The "Game That Shall Not Be Named" Immediately Bans Ximming

Yeah… how long did it take Overwatch? 8 years?
Pretty interesting. Kinda shows that all these problems we’ve had a problem with were totally possible for them to fix, they’ve just been dragging their feet for forever for some reason.

The more interesting thing to me will be which game adds native mouse and keyboard on console first!

I can see that happening at some point, if the game detects you’re ximming then it puts you into PC lobbies. But the game would also have to disable any aim assist. I think one of the reasons people xim is because they get the accuracy of mouse from pc with the aim assist of console.

im assuming “game that shall not be named” isnt voldemort, and is rivals.

its probably because the detection software has been discovered so new companies have that fundemental layer to build on.

R6 and overwatch had xim ban implementations at similar times.

In these games, aim assist is more of a detriment if you already aim relatively well. They XIM to play against controller players. Not for aim assist that pulls you off your target. Promises.

And counting. Ximmers are still thriving on console Overwatch.

What kind of nonsensical logic is this. XIM wasn’t an issue 8 years ago, of course Blizzard wasnt spending resources combatting it back then. MR shipped at a time when it was already an issue, and therefore are shipping with it.

This is like saying the Romans were stupid for not doing anything to deal with climate change.

a new study recently came out that linked lead to lower IQ points for a period during the roman empire

also climate change is romes fault! lol

Lol, so part of the issue was that tools to detect such were not around till the last couple years.

Then it takes time make a system in game to sort that all out. As false positives are a thing.

It’s just that cheaters are such a significant portion of the playerbase that they are afraid of losing their precious active player numbers and $$$ if they ban them all.

Except this isn’t true.
https://gamerant.com/overwatch-2-console-cheater-bans-xim-mouse-keyboard-explained/

In 2017, Jeff Kaplan, the former game director, addressed these concerns via a forum. He stated, "The Overwatch team objects to the use of mouse and keyboard on console. We've contacted both first-party console manufacturers and expressed our concerns about the use of these peripherals and input conversion devices."

It’s been around for a while. They just never really did anything about it.

“Been around” does not mean its been an issue. The use of XIM and other such devices since then have skyrocketed in usage, and the devices have also gotten considerably more advanced with enhanced scripting. It is not the same situation at all.

It’s definitely been seen as an issue for a while now!

This should be supported out the gate, I’m surprised OW hasn’t done this yet. Of course they’d have to be in the queue pool with other M+K users (and/or PC players), or at least those who opt in to playing with them.

Also, why can you not name Rivals? It’s a relevant game and topic, and there’s no rule against it that I know of.

You definitely can. People are just conflating that with people who are creating topics like “lol, MR is so much better than OW. Game so bad!!!” and so they think the issue is that they mentioned Rivals and not because the thread was pointless and unproductive spam.

It takes them forever to implement simple reworks and we only get small number changes as balance changes.

I guess changing the game to be a scam isn’t working out for them at all.
