The future of Overwatch will be more seasons.
Blizzard isn’t going to wind down development (We’d have heard something by now if they were planning that), they’ll likely reveal the 2025 roadmap sometime after Season 14 launches.

You confused me a second because at first I thought you meant Thor in MR
Good, because what we have learned is that people are impatient and something that suddenly comes out has a much higher chance to be a success. We don’t need any long term announcements and I rather want them to focus on smaller stuff.
But why do people expect a game released in 2016, that went from a P2P to a F2P version, to have something incredible and brand-new in terms of content next year, anyway ?
The future of Overwatch was supposed to be PVE, they canceled it before the game turned into F2P and hid it from us for a whole year…
Some players in this community were even happy for PVE to be canceled and now think there’s something better coming… How can they possibly think that, knowing the long-term project was canceled :p… ?
The future of OW is not really a mystery : We’ll get a few new maps now and then, some little reworks, a buff and nerf rotation to certain heroes… and if we’re lucky, we might still get a new hero every other season… and that should be it for PVP…
People always spit at new game modes and can’t adapt to anything new and riveting for Overwatch… why should devs even bother with an ungrateful community when it’s so easy to make them spend money on weekly shop skins (without doing anything much) ?
The 6v6 test is already something big for a team that releases a patch only twice a season and that doesn’t even care enough to make a specific balance patch for Open Queue…
Its Aaron Keller leaving?
The game is genuinely terrible. A lot of people addicted to it and can’t get a healthy perspective on how insanely terrible this game is. I’m uninstalling it until at least one of the devs(aaron keller, alec dawson, josh noah, gavin winter) gets replaced.
There is a genuinely good alternative to Overwatch now. Marvel Rivals is really good. It might wake up addicted players. It’s baffling how incredibly incompetent these devs are.
Honestly it’s probably better if the game dies. We might actually get a good sequel couple of years later everything reworked and refined with a coherent vision.
its not even terrible, its just treated so poorly.
I wish they’d just spend a season not trying to create balogna and just seriously focus in and fix whats already there in front of them.
Go through the maps and fix any little things.
Go through the visual and audio bugs, and the countless rein and doom bugs.
Go through and add some modes, with some TLC to the integers.
Just go through and love the game.
Sick of just empty soulless skins and just random senseless “patches” for the sake of update frequency.
Give the game some love for ThiccBhuddas sake
I think they are just oblivious to it. We saw so many red flags over time. This dev team just proven to be not capable. I don’t think it’s some kind of manpower problem. It’s a decision problem.
Cosmetic side treated poorly because they are overly focused on making the most money. They probably lost some talent too. The game is cheap, they don’t invest in it at all, but they have the crew for core game i think. There is no excuse.
The game needs new minds.
Edit: Even map reworks came out just recently. The game released more than 2 years ago. It was blatant a lot of the maps didn’t work in this format. They didn’t care at all. They are just moderating the game and trying to make money from skins. That’s all. It needs to die.
i honestly dont see it living much longer they cant balance things clearly and the director clearly doesnt know what to do in my opinion him trying to bring back 6v6 is probably to try and keep his job
Overwatch has been dead for so long that its more shocking we can even hit play at this point. Hopefully Micro$oft cans it entirely soon, there is no salvaging this mess.
How often have there ever been hints further than a few months ahead? Every once in a while, sure, but I don’t remember it being the norm.
I’ll say this much, they’ve quite obviously broken the emergency glass on the Mercy skins.
It’s the truth though. Rivals might not have that expensive pixar aesthetics but damn, everything feels chaotic and fun. It feels fast and more flexible if teams run 1 healer and tank, there’s no aggressive monetization Mr krabs model.
Overwatch is becoming nothing but a glorified skin shop
No amount of stolen breast milk and harassment can beat the good ol’ “well, it’s time to release the thirst skins”.
When have they stuck with a road map though? It is just a buzzword they use to act like they have a plan.
I remember when they were gonna try and have weekly or monthly dev updates and that tanked after the first month. The leadership (and I use that term loosely) does not have the patience to go through thick and thin they want instant gratification with their new plans and let’s face it all their plans are pretty lack luster and easily picked up then they go back and hide from all the critique.
I have said that before. Feels like a huge glam shop with a side of PvP to show off your skins.
Yeah balance and any real content is secondary, its skins and collaboration events which get all the work
Probably the side effect of a predatory skin market that is the only generator of funds. I’m guessing the battle pass is secondary since all the good skins are bought separately. Wonder how long that has til the lack of players falls enough where even whales don’t keep up them afloat
hienstly i think they should just shut the game down after this season and scrap season 14 hoenstly the game is dead becuase of aaron keller and the current team 4
why community should play a game with bastard developers who lied to us for years and we are ungrateful for that?
