The dps shift to support is so clear

This sums it up pretty well. Most DPS just have different tools to help eliminate certain targets or create conditions to make targets vulnerable.

I think DPS players see supports as being “babied” because supports were given more damage output so they could defend themselves. Why? Because DPS is too busy facing forward and doesn’t come back to help their supports or see what’s going on. They’re just viewed as healbots and free distractions for the enemy team more often than not, and who wants to play a thankless role that’s on a deathloop? No one.

So now supports are doing decent damage so they’re less likely to get totally rolled when they’re forgotten about. If they’re decent at the hero they’re on then odds are they’ll outperform a struggling DPS. Who wants to dedicate themselves to following around a DPS that’s a proven fail when they can do the job better themselves and try to salvage the game? Not me. I’m going to forget that DPS player exists and make the best out of the situation.
