The Competitive Bugs Megathread

J0k3r: Just including the season in which a competitive player title was earned would completely fix the need to make them seasonally expire, but I doubt Blizzard would implement such a simple and elegant solution…

Alanis: A ton of players who did not receive competitive rewards for Season 3 also did not receive their rewards for Season 4 as well, so you are far from the only one experiencing this. The only difference between this time and last time is that the number of players left to complain about the bug, and in turn, the intensity of the public outcry, has dropped significantly. That said, the number of affected players is still extremely large, so I have somewhat high hopes the Devs will still be able to notice and fix this issue.

Akiyama: Unfortunately, as is evidenced by the missing career profiles bugs, having a single line on the known issues post is simply just an acknowledgement. It does not guarantee a fix to the issue, and in fact, it could be argued that there is no correlation at all between an issue being known and being fixed, as is evidenced by the patchnotes, which include fixes for bugs that were previously never acknowledged. But then again, that is no excuse to give up trying to bring up the issue of our Season 36 rewards either.

Can’t spell Blizzard without L.

I’m also a GM player who hasn’t received the competitive points, grandmaster player title and “Season X End: Grandmaster” achievement for both season 3 and season 4, even with 15 games won (not just played) and a GM2/GM1 final rank respectively.

As if an account warning and silence isn’t over-excessive in itself? That’s honestly crazy if you get account punishment for pointing out their mistakes and false advertizing as a paying customer. Like, what?

Was there any statement I can find about this?

Well there may or may not be good news regarding that. Bugged player titles for Season 4 was listed as a known issue in the Known Issues Post so the issue was at the very least acknowledged by the Devs. Link here: Overwatch 2 Known Issues - July 25, 2023 (Updated). And as is claimed by the patchnotes for today, they should be fixed for all players as well. Link here: Overwatch 2 - Patch Notes. Hopefully this time, the fix is far more thorough than their first attempt in Season 3. But from what I’ve gathered from the bug posts today, I don’t have high hopes…

In fact, this is a very common practice for the customer support team. There is extensive player reports of customer support excessively and unjustly punishing the accounts of some players. In my case, it was for replying too much on the bug forums and in my customer support ticket regarding my missing Top 500 rewards for Season 36, but there are also players who have received punishment for trying to appeal false permanent account bans, notifying about missing end of season competitive rewards, complaining about blank career profiles, etc…

I read through your entire post, and for what it’s worth, I completely agree with all of your sentiments. And I have somewhat good news for you too regarding viewing your Overwatch 1 ranked history. You can actually request Blizzard to send you your player data through the Blizzard support page. Tutorial here: https://www.reddit.com/r/hearthstone/comments/8m5isu/you_can_now_request_game_data_from_blizzard_due/. It’s a shame and a disgrace this data is no longer viewable from within the game client itself, but I hope the fact it is just hidden and not deleted brings some solace.

Dear NewbieSpeech Marketing Master,

Thank you so incredibly much for your fantastic news. Reading your acknowledgement of this comprehensive megathread of bugs truly warms my heart and has reignited my passion for this game and its community, even the executives. Rest assured, as a long-time Blizzard player and paying customer, I will immediately be transitioning my time to the future Game of the Year Diablo 4 in order to further immerse myself in this hyper-realistic hell you’ve created of macrotransactions and broken promises while I wait for the Developers to quickly patch out these persistent bugs and update the game with innovative and immersive new content. Once again, I truly and humbly thank you for your hard work and effort in ensuring the death of this game.

Best Regards.

Thanks so much for the tutorial on getting my OW1 ranked history!

And I’m glad the end of season comp rewards are fixed for most players, but when I go into my competitive challenges, it still doesn’t show I have the ‘Season 3/4 End: Grandmaster’ challenge completed. Only for season 1 and 2. The weird thing is this: all throughout the past season, season 4, I did have the Grandmaster player title (from season 3) equipped, but I never got the ‘Season 3 End: Grandmaster’ achievement. Go figure.

I’m glad to be of help. Unfortunately, despite it still being an issue for a ton of players, the Devs have already listed the bugged competitive titles as a fixed issue, so I doubt they will implement a proper fix as I had hoped. This exact same situation occurred at the launch of Season 4 as well regarding missing end-of-season competitive rewards for Season 3, and the Devs too tried to patch the game with a retroactive fix, which only partially resolved the problem. There are tons of players who are still missing for competitive rewards for Season 3, not to mention every season as far back as Season 36 of Overwatch 1…At this point, the only thing we can do is to keep bumping up this issue and hoping for a proper fix.

Dear OP,
this is NewbieSpeech[DAN] Marketing Master,
The maybe dozen (I would say 6) people we have able to solve these problems are inmersed in a crunch to try to salvage PVE content.
We currenly have fourteen people able to commit and only four senions with the rights to accept changes in the main branch.
The reason for the crunch is beucase suits realized that:

  1. We cannot deliver proper new heroes: we don’t have the qualified personnel to develop that.
  2. We cannot deliver proper new levels: same reason.
  3. We cannot keep masking the lack of content behind the hollow battlepass.
We all know at this point that forums, especially official forums, are a place to rant and let people complain and cry and focus their anger. With the bonus addition of the “shut up toxic” from our fanboi base we’re so proud of reducing any necessity of our intervention. Haven’t you noticed the special size and position of the edition and reply box? Its special for them! Its 2023 forums are a channeling anger feature, and cheap.

So, why don’t instead of loosing your time making an efford most our employe is unable to do (and those who dare are tagged to be scrutinzed by HR), why don’t instead, I was saying, you shut the fist up and spend money in the current business model of the infinite non propietary digital asset marketing, while we try to be absorbed by MS, boby gets his bonus and hopefully gets hired at Disney?
We are aware most our agile paper cards look like pirates of the caribeen props, old and yellow, but in every meeting we are required more transactions more inclusion and more marketing, and that’s where the money goes. If we want to survive the FFCFCFC problem, there’s no place for you if you pretend to play for free in a polished game.
Game as a service means constant new stuff, constant new stuff means constant new problems!

Do not hesistate to keep posting here while we give a fist on this matters as long as streamers and their first world acolytes are happy.

Lots of rainbows for you! and follow our newsletter.

Dear NewbieSpeech[DAN] Marketing Master,

I must say, I am quite surprised there are so many developers hard at work to fix these issues and have no doubt they will release some of the most innovative and awe-inspiring PVE content in the history of gaming this August 10th. Have no fear, I completely agree with every assessment and decision from the suits and too believe that the bug forums is truly one of the most brilliant ideas to have been implemented as it is undoubtedly the most cost-efficient and effective strategies to dispel the absolutely unjustified frustrations and sorrow of the playerbase.

Unfortunately, I quite enjoy wasting my time putting forth the efford to speak the fist up against these ignorant and ungrateful supposedly paying customers who dare to tarnish our great company’s reputation and legacy. In fact, I swear an oath to ramattra all over the place, fighting until I fall and breaking before I yield in order to spread grape-flavored suffering to all those who do not yield their credit cards and souls to Saint Kotick, he who brings ruination to all that is blessed and most hallowed.

With most fervent prayers and crooked rainbows, yours truly.

Fun fact: they still haven’t fix the titles for last season. It still gives you the “Neogunner” or whatever it’s called in English title when you log out.

Hi again! I have an update. THE SR that I saw on overbuff was my CTF SR. My console PS4 OW1 S2 SR was 3564. Looking at some old Reddit threads that season Top 500 entry was 3500- for console. Which makes since because I was barely in it. The match count number matches the number in the Screenshot I provided for proof. As well as that was the number for the category of NA leaderboard. Do you know what those data columns stand for?

Thanks again

For future reference, I’ve listed the data columns for the Player Ranked Role Data table and their explanations below:

  • Ruleset Queue is the gamemode and for some reason is listed twice.
  • Leaderboard Region Match Count seems to list the server and the number of matches played in that gamemode on that server.
  • Role is your hero role.
  • Level is your season final Overwatch 1 SR.
  • Highest Level is your season peak Overwatch 1 SR.
  • Match Count is the total number of matches played, which appears to be a backup stat for gamemodes that don’t have anything listed for Leaderboard Region Match Count.
  • Rank is your season final Overwatch 2 skill division, which I believe starts at 0, which represents Bronze.
  • Rank Sub Tier is your season final Overwatch 2 skill sub-division.
  • Highest Rank is your season peak Overwatch 2 skill division.
  • Highest Rank Sub Tier is your season final Overwatch 2 skill sub-division.
  • Highest Leaderboard Position is your Top 500 peak leaderboard position.
    • Based on this, it would seem reasonable to expect Blizzard to also track your Top 500 final leaderboard position, but for whatever reason, this stat is either not tracked or not displayed. My guess is due to leaderboards being able to change after a season ends, due to banned accounts for example, but that is just speculation. Out of all the stats, this one is personally without a doubt the most infuriating to not track…

Heyyy, Akiyama here for a lil’ bump to the head. Or the thread. Or both.

Just bumping up the megathread again. It’s been almost two weeks and there have been fewer than five posts in total regarding competitive issues that have a view count above 100. Considering at one point there were hundreds of posts reporting competitive bugs every single day, this is a rather ominous sign. And especially after the recent Overwatch League news, I can safely say this game’s competitive integrity has never been at a lower point in it’s seven year history…

They’re betting everything on the Steam release, but I don’t really know if it’ll help them…

Got the openQ title but not the roleQ title.
Is this expected?

gm on roleQ.
Got 1500 points and the openQ title

Assuming you completed the 15 minimum games requirement and had at least one rerank for both Open Queue and Role Queue to be considered active, then no, this seems to be a bug as you should have received competitive titles for both gamemodes and competitive points based on your highest final rank division. Fortunately, receiving only the title for Open Queue but not Role Queue, and vice versa, is a documented bug, which you can read more about under the subcategory: End-Of-Season Competitive Rank And Rewards. Here is one of those posts: Didnt receive Ranked Open Queue Title, only Role Queue title. There are also several much larger threads about missing competitive rewards in general as well, which are all listed at the top of that subcategory if you would like to help bump up those threads too. Hopefully with enough traction the devs will implement another retroactive fix similar to the ones in Season 5 and 4 and give us all the rewards we earned…

First off, I have to start by saying WOW. I am just overwhelmed with the amount of reward bugs and amount of people who haven’t received their actual rewards. I don’t know how they can allow this to happen not only once, but multiple seasons now. This thread is HUGE and there’s no way a single person from Blizz has not seen this. Everyone needs to keep talking about this until they fix it. It is unfair.
