I was very concerned about the concept design of lifeweaver, extremely specific with those petals on the back. but I am very happy that for the next season they have found a valid stylistic solution. the last time I was positively amazed was the Atlantean sojourn skin, which explored a highly fantasy / mythological concept design for such a cybernetic hero.
Here I want to open a discussion: which character with the most difficult concept design to develop? I mean someone who has a really hard time bringing out various styles. by now we know that characters like Mercy or Genji offer strong ideas for winged or sword references, but who in the Overwatch roster really has great creative difficulties?
in my opinion… it’s Baptiste. the last time I saw a really good skin for him was Funky, which effectively took advantage of the bell-bottoms with the design of him requiring a very thick element on the legs to be an instantly recognizable silhouette to opponents. I’m not talking about whether he had nice skins or not… I’m just saying that the design of him as a grenade throwing soldier is so impractical to see him interesting in the various concept art. there is nothing that makes me think “it’s perfect with his design” unless he proposes something that involves the small details of the silhouette of his equipment: boots, backpack, etc.
