The art team is running out of skin ideas. Let's be real

Just like with the Summer Games, Halloween Terror '19 has already been confirmed to only have 4 new skins, unlike the usual 3 epics and 6 legendaries that filled out most seasonal events until now.

Without reusing skin ideas or making blatant ripoffs of popular copyrighted materials, name a traditional Halloween themed skin that hasn’t been used up yet.

Creature of the Black Lagoon - Doomfist.
Dr. Frankenstein, Frankenstein (Yes, he acknowledges he takes his father’s name in the book, it’s canon), and Bride of Frankenstein - Junkrat, Roadhog, Sombra.
Cliched Hockey mask wearing Slasher villain - Soldier 76.
Culturally appropriate Jiangshi - Mei.
Witches - Mercy
Headless Horseman & Dracula - Reaper
Generic Vampire - Symmetra
Tombstone - Bastion
Skeleton - Zenyatta
Monster Hunter / Van Hellsing - McCree
Pumpkin - Wrecking Ball and Mei
Undead zombie - McCree
Possessed Demon - Hanzo
Culturally appropriate Banshee - Moira
Possessed Armor - Pharah
Lovecraftian horror - Zenyatta
Ghosts - Reinhardt (kinda)
Spiders - Widowmaker
Various Halloween costumes or story related - Ana, Torbjorn, Brigitte, Zarya, Symmetra
Gargoyle - Winston (And this is an Anniversary skin, so they could have easily waited half a year.)

What other themes and public domain creatures besides Werewolves (I’m guessing Baptiste) could they possibly delve into without borrowing from pop culture? I could see Bob or Orisa being built as a clay Golem.

And it’s not just Halloween. How many more winter Holiday or Winter Sports skins can they think of for Winter Wonderland? They gave Lucio a Hockey skin before any of the events even came out.

They can keep going with the Romance of the Three Kingdoms skins for Lunar New Year for a little while. There’s still two whole other Kingdoms to delve into with the characters, but after that they’re going to have to grasp at straws for Chinese related skins.

I think the art team is busy making art for and designing the PvE Overwatch sequel

No. Half the heroes have a small amount of skins. They could easily milk them for years. Overwatch is just less popular, so it gets less developer resources.

The Overwatch team is HIRING people unlike most Blizzard teams. Its nothing to do with resources and entirely that the team has decided that working on bigger more permanent features to the base game is a better investment than skins and events only available 3 weeks out of the year.

Plus Activision math monkeys probably worked out that whales will still shell out plenty of money for a smaller amount of skins.

Demonic Mei… with shadow arms dragging opponents in her Ultimate and a demonic laugh voiceline.

…Mei should show her true identity

I cannot imagine that the art team runs out of ideas tbh…
In my opinion, they are extremely talented and creative.
Maybe they just have another focus atm.

I feel like most people have missed the point of brainstorming Halloween themed ideas here… That Gravedigger Rein with a huge shovel could be pretty cool though.

Gee, wouldn’t it be such a nice thing to have an entire community who comes up with and even designs some amazing skin concepts. gee Blizzard maybe you should listen to what the community wants for cosmetics and not end up with another “Lightning Tracer”

Oh that’s hilarious! I hope you are not serious with this post. I mean you literally have that Mei skin as your pfp. Im 99.9% sure this is a joke post.

Edit: It is a joke post and I love it!

Honestly werewolves sound amazing…

Give me those alliance floofy bois.

I don’t believe that.

There are tons of ideas. There are even tons of fan ideas sent their way that could inspire them.

It’s more likely they’re running out of resources to allocate to new skins imo. Big companies often work on tons of projects, and if Activision-Blizzard doesn’t think skins will bring in enough revenue, they won’t let the artists work on them. I mean they already confirmed that they had to cut back on skins and everything to work on features for the game. Do you know why? Budget limitations, probably.

Oh, I see. You’re accusing ME of cultural appropriation just because the designers of the game decided that a skin design based on actual Chinese mythos would be appropriate for the Chinese character to wear.

Excuse me. Let me just go back in time and give her skin to Lucio instead.

I know you’re having fun with the thread. It actually is my favorite skin because of it’s design though. >_>

They give Winston a Bigfoot skin. Last year during the Halloween arcade mode Mccree talks to Tracer about a giant hairy beast who roams the country side. (literally Bigfoot)

Then Give Tracer a Will’o’wisp skin as she is also referred to as such in the Halloween mode. Also given that Will’os originate from old English folktales. (Where Tracers from.)

If we don’t see these skins and Genjis skin from the comic I riot.
Sidenote: I want Genji to get a Tanjiro skin from Demon Slayer. It would be amazing.

Its the only vampire skin with real fangs. REAL. FANGS.

Blizzard secretly admits she is a cold hearted undead.

As for my skin brainstorm I would like to see a monkey ball hamster. Him running in a see-through hamsterball.

For Christmas I would like a jingle bell hamster with a massive bronze or brass bell mech that jingles when preforming a piledriver. That sounds a-mei-zing.

I dont think its a lack of ideas per say, but rather the fact they’re busy making skins for OWL and the upcoming “Overwatch 2”.
