Tank already back to being the bottleneck queue

As mentioned in a conversation we had prior. You shoot his team.

If he runs at you, you have on cooldown that not only gives you armor that heavily resists his damage. But a speed boost to move around him.

If he pops his healing tool, you can deny it with a barrier or move around a bit of terrain.

If he is truly doing nothing but attempting to ram into to. Then you have every means to ignore him and smack his team.

But I know you won’t take that answer, as you can’t understand any scenario that isn’t boiled down to two tanks standing directly in front of each other plowing damage into such.

So good and good night, I leave this as example of the thing I detailed moments ago.

Exactly the idiots wanting unkillable tanks need to realise a tank need to be able to kill a tank too.

No, you simply don’t understand how the game works lmao. I play Ramattra but even more so Mauga. I am the Mauga every Ramattra player dreads. The matchup is so incredibly one-sided and is probably the hardest counter in the game. Ram simply does not live long enough to obtain any value attacking Mauga’s team. The only way Ram can contribute to winning against Mauga is simply taking it and hoping Mauga dies before block runs out. I have been on both sides of this matchup in Top 500 and the only way to win against Mauga is keep him off your team long enough for them to win. Any attempts on the enemy team or Mauga himself will end in instant death.

Because it is a pointless endeavor. In all games with roles like these, tank is the least played for several hundred reasons. They are literally wasting time and resources.

Obviously the buffs are not enough. Tanks are still too weak that’s why no one’s playing them. They need a lot more buffs

Tanking is still miserable because this is not the change this game needs. The dev team is so out of touch from this game I doubt they’ll ever figure it out.

I don’t know, I like swapping to counter enemy or when I’m getting countered. I’m not a Genji who stays the character into all the beams.

Was seeing this last night. Queued into all roles in QP, kept getting tank games. Played nothing but D.Va every game. Won more than I lost, so there’s that at least.

Many games I played both sides had D.Va. Then it was a matter of how fast the other team swapped to a different tank and how the DPS fared against each other.

Most games were more about DPS or Healing diffs than tank diffs. Hilarious really.

Can’t say its better or worse than before yet, but I get the frustration. Because I always play queued into all roles, I have played a LOT more tank than Healer and both those roles a HELL of a lot more than DPS.

The fact that tank queues jump to longest in the game when big changes are made like this is proof that people WANT to play tank. They play it hoping “hey maybe it’s fun now” then realize counters still bully them around the roster and they’re like “nope still not fun” and quit playing.

You people who think tank is just guaranteed to have dangerously low populations by default and nothing can be done about it, please never become game designers. You will fail at it so hard you will be bullied into another career by failing like ball is bullied into orisa by hard counters.

To declare an element of game design is miserable an not fun by default and nothing can be done about it is absolutely pathetic. Anyone who thinks like that has extremely weak mental.

If an element is not fun to the player base, you ask them why. They tell you why. You fix it. It’s that simple.

Tank in OW2 is miserable because of rock paper scissors tanking. 6v6 fixes it. Do it. If that presents further problems than you address the problems the same way. But just buffing tanks over and over is not addressing the problem, it’s beating around the bush.

Tanks can play through any specific counter via learning what tools to save and how they should push to get around them. Any rien can play around flanks and cycle around bits of cover to get healing or break LOS to say a bastion or orisa till their they burn their turret and fortify respectively saving the barrier for other encounters be it uls or just stalling out another important cooldown.

It’s for the most an issue with players willing to learn how the role plays around these match ups, in a scenario were they don’t have a game breaking duo that can hide all your weaknesses.

As you have all the tools to do so in many cases.


That and well people also need to learn they can shoot something other then the enemy tank, especially when supports are just standing out in the open half the time in the middle of a big objective. Or can be stopped from healing Whole sale by pushing them back around a corner in the case of an ana or brig.

Yes and no. You can outplay your counters to a certain extent, but at a certain point that becomes a matter of just being better than the enemy team. And unless you’re better by enough of a margin, such as in the case of smurfing, enough counters can basically force you to play pure defense and only exist to bait attention and cooldowns. Yeah, you can still play well and get a lot of value, but it isn’t fun to play that game.

And if your team can’t do the work around you being a big meat shield, it feels even more helpless because you just sit there getting farmed until your team falls apart and you get rolled.

The problem with this patch is that tank was already the least valuable thing to be shooting most of the time because they won’t die. But simultaneously, the most powerful player in absolute terms on either team is the tank. So the tank is the most valuable kill you can get, meaning if people see their teammates shooting the tank they are more likely to want to join in to try and get that kill.

Tank is also built around being a big threat that forces you to shoot it or else it can walk on you for free and kill you. So yeah, you get more out of shooting other things, but you can’t just not shoot the tank at all either.

And when they buff tanks, even when it’s mostly just their sustain, the player psychology is that tank is an even more valuable kill, and needs to be focused that much more.

Which is why this patch didn’t really help tanks that much. You’re still incredibly strong until you run into the things that shut you down hard. And yeah, you’re tankier. But that only made it more likely that people are going to hard focus and counter you.

Tanks become stronger, but that’s not 1:1 with tanks becoming more fun.
