That is a fallacy
Both Symmetra and Sombra, are viable on both attack and defense equally, IF you know how to play them.
That is the core issue Symmetra and Sombra has, no one knows how to utilize her properly and teams don’t know how to cater to her specialization.
Just like Sombra
She has reliable escape, I would say like Sombra, but Sombra can’t escape Zarya Grav, and if you know how to play her properly. For example: Zarya ults your team… Symmetra can teleport people out of Grav. Learn to play issue. Not a kit issue.
I guess her having a lower pick rate than Symmetra in all ranks is meaningless then since she’s so Generalist masquerading as niche.
Symmetra is a counter pick, but I bet if I asked you who symmetra counters you wouldn’t even be able to tell me, and the irony about that is… I’m a sombra one trick whom rarely if ever plays symmetra and even I know who she counters.
And no MOST people don’t understand Sombra at all.
I’ve played about 12,000 games, in QP and have 400+ hours on Sombra, and I can literally count on one hand the number of decent Sombra Players I’ve come across, and that includes every rank below Diamond.
I know Masters and GM’s are good with her, because they are among the most skilled, but I rarely if ever see Masters/GM’s play Sombra.
My GM friend rarely if ever plays Sombra, and even he admits I’m better on her than he is, the only difference between me and him is he has expert level game sense, and I don’t, something I am still trying to train myself to get better with.
But mechanically, I rarely ever see a Sombra that I struggle with. Can you say the same about your time playing Symmetra?
Lastly,
I happen to notice you and I are in the same Rank, and I can assure you your opinion on Symmetra, is invalidated just knowing that fact.
You really don’t have enough time or experience on this account to make any of these assumptions in the first place.
