Symmetra Primary Fire and Survavability Buff

Hi, I made some changes to increase her primary fire usability while also increasing her survavibility, what is now her 2 biggest problems.

Primary fire

  • Damage increased from 60/120/180 to 65/130/195

  • New: hitting barriers grants her a stacking shield up to 100 extra shields. 5 shields every 0.35/0.25/0.15 seconds of hitting barriers(increases rate with gun level. Decays over 3 seconds after not being damaged or dealing damage with the primary fire for 3 seconds(hitting enemy heroes will keep the current shield level but won’t increase it).

More damage to primary is not the answer.

The problem is this:

Within the Damage per second (DPS) count is a tick rate.

Originally, for 60 dps, there was a tick rate of 5. That means the beam would do 12 damage and as you hold it for a full second it will do 60 damage.

However to fix a bug, they increased the tick rate to 20. That’s 3 damage. When you do the math yeah she does 60 dps but against armor that’s the problem. Armor reduces damage by 5 or in cases an attack does less than 5 damage that damage is reduced by 50% so 3 damage is 1~2 damage a tick for 20 or 40 damage for 2 seconds before the ramp up (assuming you can keep accuracy.

More damage won’t fix this evenly. Non armored enemies will suffer if the beam overall damage is buffed.

Instead fix the tick rate so you don’t lose 50-55% damage with armor HP (Brigitte and Torbjörn Armor buffs are everywhere)

Utility to the beam is another good way to make the beam viable. Drawing barrier HP to build her own is a good realistic buff.

Damage/range boosts are somewhat unrealistic.
