Symmetra hard-counters Sombra

Haha… No not at all. Sombra can compeltely counter symm actually

The best play to play symm is to not be with your team all the time. Actually its to occupy an offangle and setup a semid efensible fof angel with the option to tp aggressively or defensively. A sombra can kill you way too quickly of shes good and can shut down the entire gameplan

XD XD XD

Don’t joke I have seen potato players in diamond games die to a singular turret from full hp because they are so focused on what is in front of them that they just don’t realize.

Microsoft tech support is sombras worst nightmare

The gradually heating up bath boiling you alive

That this is the tone/language that gets the most upvotes in this thread…

Can we not turn this into a self fulfilling prophecy where we villianize anyone who even finds anything remotely useful about the hero? OP wasn’t even implying Sym is a good hero overall (everyone knows she’s bad). But it’s not a sin to conceive of and explore a possible use case for Sym even if she’s F tier.

I don’t think OP said anything that was egregiously false (no hacks around turrets, anti-Hack defensive turret placements). To add on to it, I found that building the TP preemptively between two backline positions while playing backline babysitter on her team can really mess with Sombra’s impact because…

With TP up, if Sym eats the Hack (that’s if Sombra somehow manages to bypass all the turrets/beam spychecking) or Virus, she can just instantly TP away from any of Sombra’s follow-ups if she is actively playing for that sitting on the TP, and Sombra may as well as have zero chance to even land a body shot follow-up. Now Sombra’s just used up her Hack/Virus cooldown while all of Sym’s team is onto her.

Even if Sombra chooses to ignore Sym and goes for the Supports, the Supports can just use the pre-emptive TP to TP out and survive in the same way, without burning Support cooldowns. And then Sym/her Supports can return back to the main fight faster than Sombra can by rotating back with TP compared to Translocating out and Stealthing back in.

If Sombra tries to destroy Sym’s constructs first, Sombra is going to take time to destroy the TP which eats into time she can catch Sym or her backline without the TP back up, while still having to deal with turrets gutting her Hack and defeating the purpose of stealth if she has to reveal her general position and losing her element of surprise (whole point of Sombra…) to destroy the TP/turrets.

I’d say I agree with the OP in my experience that Sym is a decent Sombra counter.

And I disagree that Sym needs to kill Sombra to be a counter; I’m a Brig main, it’s not hotly contested that Brig can counter Sombra pretty well even though Brig doesn’t actually kill Sombra to counter her in most cases… So I feel like I’m just applying the same concepts of countering Sombra by neutering her impact rather than eliminating her. If Sombra isn’t getting impactful Hacks or Virus elims, she’s a walking ghost that leaves her team to a 4v5. At least with Sym assuming the backline babysitter role, she is still there poking the enemy team with orbs while weaving in 360° beam spychecks near her team, although it usually does feeds the enemy support ultimates because orbs are bad Pharah rockets… but strong case that building and having her wall ult up is quite worth the trade off.

I think the case against Sym being a true counter is that Sombra can still build EMP with Virus to destroy Sym’s walls, but so far I’ve had pretty good overall match results by adjusting for an anti-Sombra playstyle with backline turrets/TP when I’m pushing Sym into Sombra…

And will probably get heat for filling into the shoes of a sub-AFK turrets and beam spychecking TP botting player slot with some orb spams in between, so it can’t truly be a counter when it neuters almost all of Sym’s aggressive potential to counter Sombra, but even when I’m on Brig (decently agreed upon Sombra counter) it’s a pretty drastic adoption of a mental state and change of playstyle so it’s not unique in this case and… it works, so far.

But otherwise yeah, I still think Sym is trash as a whole lol.

I am not sorry, I stopped giving a crap about bad Symmetra opinions like 5 years ago.

This is all nice and good except that not only most supports wont interact with TP but also TP lasts for a limited.
