Sym 2.0 Counters GOATS comp

Her secondary fire would go through barriers and hit everyone behind them. She hard countered slow team comps like GOATS. Please bring back her old barrier piercing.

Not just that. Shield gen also boosted your teams survivability making your team more sturdy to actually deal with the comp. also goats would have really struggled in general because they couldn’t actually go look for the shield gen or tele without the team getting torn apart. All sym 2.0 needed was the buffs to her secondary and she would have been a solid pick in this meta

iirc symm 2.0 was on live when deathball comp was a thing, and yet, she never had usage…

GOATs isn’t slow, Lucio is an essential character there.

I got a better idea:

I never ran into a Sym 2.0 that survived a hammer to the face. She would be fish food

goats would just press w+m1 onto a hero with no mobility

she can pierce shields but brings nothing else of value against goats, especially with a d.va savy enough to devalue her orbs with dm
there’s also the fact that goats could easily swap to dive goats and ignore her orbs

shield gen is similar to rally but brig’s kit is better in so many ways and her aoe healing and brawl potential on top of her aoe heals will always make her a better pick so she’s not going to be dropped in favor of symmetra

goats is vertically challenged but not a slow compositin

It isn’t even that valuable considering GOATS would just outheal it and constantly have support ults.

The main issue is that in the professional scene a TP/SG never lasted more than 30 seconds because they’d call it out right away and use flankers to delete it

Not really. As skilled as pros are, they had no god damn idea how to play Sym 99% of the time. Even watching Seagull play 3.0 can be pretty rough sometimes.
You used it as bait at really high ranks. If it’s gonna be found instantly, don’t try to hide it. It’s not a complicated notion, but few could grasp it.

That said, it still didn’t provide enough value even then.

You’re greatly overestimating speed boost. It does not stop you from dying to a barrage of turrets and Orbs if u want right into them.

They should’ve just given Symm a shield version of Rally and a passive that grants up to 50 shields to allies if Symm is dealing damage. The rest of 2.0 could’ve stayed maybe with her beam range increased and uneffected by armor

Nah. That defeats the purpose of charging ammo with shields.

Why? That gives you all the ammo you need to melt a tank without reloading.

6 sentries. Teleporter. Shield gen. Those are all mechanics strong against goats.

Half the heroes in goats comp cant reach the sentries to destroy them. And if they want to destroy her ultimate, they’ll have to either split up their comp (making them substantially weaker) or swap heroes. And forcing goats to swap heroes literally accomplishes your goal of defeating goats.

One of the best things about the previous Sym 1.0 - 2.0 is that players hate dying to her and wanna brag about no skill hero yet this hero only excels pretty well at close range with zero protection if they go flank mode. Players can pretend 3.0 is better, but results shows 2.0 was the most favorable and respected unique version of Sym.

Having 6 sentries barely matters when most good players can kill them extremely fast with d.va’s high spread or winston if they’re running goats. They die extremely quickly and she has downtime.

Teleporter is nice I guess if you can put it in a location the tanks can’t reach, which isn’t exactly impossible when goats has D.Va and Lucio speed to find it quickly. It’s a gamble for another fight which might not even pay off and make goats snowball even harder due to its extreme ult economy.

Symmetra will get her ultimates really fast but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll be more impactful than ultimates from any other hero in the game. 75 shields is nice and all but that’s not going to save you from a shatter + bomb or a bash + shatter or a grav + bomb or the cleave of Rein and Brig in a grav. If you pick Teleporter, you lose Shield Gen. If you go shield Gen, it won’t do much in the ult fight which goats dominates in.

There’s also the opportunity cost of playing Symmetra over other heroes which is a big problem on its own. Goats is strong because nothing really counters it, and the heroes and compositions that come close to it are countered by easy adjustments to the composition (going Winston over Rein) or simply playing better.

Symmetra will also die 100% of the time whenever goats approaches her due to her lack of mobility and range.

You can’t plop Symmetra 2.0 in the game and expect her to counter the meta if she’s untouched.
Symmetra 3.0 looks like a halfattempt at trying to make a character benefit from destroying shields. In addition to having to be in goats’s effective range to actually charge off a shield, she’s awful against armor and her secondary fire has no bonus effects when hitting a shield. I’d rather have Blizzard fix Symmetra to give her a defined role than to go back to a previous iteration. Maybe have her secondary fire pierce shields and have a bigger aoe when they hit a hero.
