If Mercy is mainly healing DPS for maximum value, why do you think Mercy heals less than the other supports?

well i will say that there’s only 2 problems with the support role, ana and zen.

ana and zen both are rank bullies and both need some nerfs to them, that’s literally it i say. i suggest;

ana:

  • anti nade duration reduced 3.5s → 3s
  • healing on rifle reduced 75 → 70
  • sleep dart nerf reverted on tanks

zen:

  • discord orb damage dealt reduced +25% → +15% on tanks only

You took the wrong thing out of my reply.

Having someone with you who is also able to instantly heal you is what gives value. That doesn’t mean that it’s mainly the healing. For example, if Mercy could also speed the DPS or provide damage reduction, she would also be able to play the same role, as long as she can also heal them instantly as well.

I’d also like you to not ignore the rest of my reply, thanks

Right…my Moira would run dry while your Mercy is healing nonstop.

Have you even ever tested out the numbers for potential healing due to lack of healing downtime?

The healing tempo for kiriko and Mercy is strong. Especially Mercy’s with near instantaneous healing.

Forget the dps and tank forget defense lets talk numbers.

Because everyone always worries about dps and elimns. If a match goes on for 15 minutes and Mercy has 55 healing per second that equates to 900 seconds times 55 = 49,000 healing pontetially if there was that much damage to heal. This all off of her staff alone.

Moira can heal for 70 hp pet second over the course of 9 seconds in an nonstop spray with a residual regeneration for 17.5. So 70 x 9 = 630 + 17.5(3 seconds) = 682.5 healing per 9 seconds. Now the healing gauge part. Moira needs to stop to refill with a nonstop siphon from her biotic grasp for 5.4 seconds to refill while healing herself for 20 per second. This is 108 healing to herself. So in 14.4 seconds you get 790.5 healing. So in 900(15 minutes she barely comes ahead with a healing total of 49,406.25

49,000k Mercy
49, 405.5 for Moira

Now taking into gamesense more. Moira needs an actual target to biotic grasp to get the quickiest refill. So chances are enemies aren’t going to sit there and take it. That’s one negative for Moira. Two Moira will often fade which is healing downtime as she cannot heal or act out of the animation. Three in order for her to get full potential she would need to find duels or harrass a tank which can mean a death sentence for her.

Now for Mercy’s issues…she just has to seap targets every so often maybe juggle a GA here and there, add in a rez every so often. She will always be tethered tk an ally never looking for those dangerous fights to refill or charge her healing.

These seconds add up and count for healing pontential. The amount of downtime Moira needs to fight a suitable target to siphon just to heal again can last anywhere up to 5 to 30 seconds in a single fight. That is massive healing down time. Which btw…biotic orb only heals for the same amount of spray. So its really meant to substitute healing spray if Moira is low or running dry or out of range.

Effectivelg yes her healing is AOE but this is just the fundementals we’re putting here. Obviously from a game standpoint a Moira will waste more healing energy healing multiple targets then waste it overhealing pervious pockets which is just more healing downtime.

Meanwhike Mercy. Stays tethered locked…just waits until her pocket gets shot instant value. Your healing never stops and that is the biggest issue.

Moira has higher healing potential but there is too many factors in the way that put her on the same threat level as a Mercy.

This is somewhat off-topic, but I feel that Overwatch went down the wrong path right from the start. Player survivability presently relies almost exclusively on healing overload. Almost no hero can survive the current level of spam damage flying around for long without significant healing. As such, combat devolves into either spike-damaging the enemy, or just killing the healers.

You can play a game without a tank. It’s not going to be easy and you’ll probably fail, but you can. You can play a game without DPS. GOATS proved that without a shadow of a doubt. You can’t play without a healer, and you never could. It’s not a matter of it being difficult or challenging - you just can’t. Hero DPS is DRASTICALLY out of scale with hero health pools, meaning that a team without healing just isn’t going to accomplish anything.

I don’t think there’s any way to fix that at this point. The entire game is built around having constant healing, to the point where front lines collapse the moment the healers die or even get distracted. Changing the game’s extreme reliance on healing at this point would constitute just making another game. Which is a shame.

Don’t get me wrong - I like sustain in video games. I just don’t like it when sustain is the end-all be-all of performance.

Moira wouldn’t because fights don’t go non-stop and tanks have damage mitigation.

Yes, even with downtime, the supports I listed still heal more per second.

This also ignores her orb, and isn’t realistic because you’re never just going to be afk healing.

Healing per second isn’t impactful because of the total healing in a match. Healing per second is impactful because it lets you save people and heal them up quicker so you can make proactive plays and stay alive.

Moira also has orb.

But in an average game, you’re always going to have easy options to right click to build your charge back.

Worrying about your healing charge/ammo isn’t a skill that impacts your climb as a support. Basically, it’s a very minor thing compared to actually playing the game. The only exception is really Lucio because of his shared speed and healing cooldown.

Which doesn’t matter.

Because of your higher HP/S, they’ll be healthy enough so that you’re able to go for these sorts of plays without them dying. It’s not a drawback, it’s a pro of playing her.

It’s ok for me to have either spammable powerful healing or mini ult like anti, rez, IF, suzu and etc. (I prefer no heal spam and latter-only but it is unrealistic in OW) But most of supps have both of them.

Also, heal creep doesn’t just mean the high amount of healing, cause the game was evolved around the amount of healing. The devs had a specific idea and picture of TTK and etc., and the amount of damage, CD and etc. of many abilities/charcters are also influenced by the heal creep. It’s just a dependency problem. A reasonable dev will just lower the damage, buff self-sustain and etc. accordingly when they decide to make a less/no heal spam game.

You’re seriously still arguing about a 406 healing difference?

Again. Mercy isn’t dueling or waiting on her gauge. She waits on no CDs. She can heal while moving defensively. And arguablely you can consider ultimates off the equation here. Again orb is mostly used to supplement Moira’s healing. With which most of the time should be used to win duels. Once again, Moira duels, it is an aspect that Mercy cannot comprehend or do because there’s so much more that comes from just firing your weapon. Timings, tracking, positioning.

Moira’s playstyle is dynamic and is constantly changing. Add more to further healing downtime.

With which MERCY LACKS HEALING DOWNTIME.

How are you arguing about this still? So many down sides and factors that hinder Moira, but she’s a “better” healer.

Pffft. If you think so we can go into Valkyrie stats and your own health regen for those true values. Which gets so much worst for Moira’s side.

Oh and Rez is a full 100% heal from death.

That’s not what I’m arguing about. I’m arguing about what a higher HP/s allows a support to do.

Moira duels, yes.

She can only duel because she has a high enough healing to sustain and have downtime to damage.

If she had Mercy’s HP/s with no resource bar she’d be faaaaaaaaaaaaaar worse because she’d have far fewer opportunities to actually deal damage and secure picks.

She just is a better tank healer. Being mainly a tank healer as Mercy is an awful idea because of her low HP/s.

Moira is also outclassed by Baptiste and Ana.

I don’t know why they say there is a heal creep when it’s been nerfed as well as our other stuff. It’s b5 DPS who get outplayed by support.

   Healing output is way higher than it was in 2016. Reminder that Mercy used to be the top healer (since she could only heal or damage) at fifty (50) HPS. A bad Ana does 50 HPS with two broken fingers.

Are you really complaining about Mercy? She’s not top tier anymore. Damage on Mercy?

Higher?

Then go over the various factors of that “higher” healing output.

Mercy’s healing is a constant neverending beam of healing.

Again the downsides of that higher “power” heavily outweight a 406.4 difference that you so claim is so drastic that you need to swap off of Mercy.

It really isn’t. Again Rez cna be counted on as a full health heal ability that spawns a teammate to your side.

We can go further indepth with direct and indirect healing and even ultimates which yours trumps so many other supports in healing it is ridiculous.

We haven’t even considered how the other player out if Mercy’s teammates might supplement the issues of Mercy’s weakness through Mercy’s enabling kit. We can go further into teamwork and maybe even add in the damage scenario of a target taking damage while another needs healing.

Again the further in depth we go into it the more Moira loses.

So its not simply just “Moira adds more” she adds specific things but still have healing down time and her pockets die more often than Mercys.

She needs a weakness already.

I’m not, I’m saying Mercy, as the “pure healing” support, should be the highest HPS healer. It’s literally all she does if she isn’t using her utility skills–why are there other supports who can heal more than her and get busted utility skills?

That’s support creep.

If you’re complaining about Kiriko, she has an unmirrored win rate of 45% according to Blizz. I don’t even know what your issue with support is. Maybe try killing them? I can do it on Brig. I’m sure you can on whoever you play.

Mercy heals the dps because they don’t need as much healing as the tank and therefore allows the other support to gain more ult charge. If Mercy mainly heals the tank, your other support no longer has as much ult charge. Compared to other support ultimates valk is weak and lackluster. No one runs away when Mercy pops ult but, and ult like kitsune rush or beat can completely change a teamfight.

The “problem”, is that you got people with expectations that Roles should be balanced as if we’re still 4 years ago, before Role Queue existed.

And not balancing them in a way to get closer to a 20% Tank, 40% DPS, 40% Support players ratio, that you’d expect with 1-2-2.

Role que the spawn of satan

Trust me open que is not any better. Its so much worsr.
