Supports players just quit playing

lol, have you been introduced to mercy ? anyone can play her, still a highly skilled mercy takes a lot of game sense, paying attention, and proper mobility/LOS angles to keep from dying all the time. I wouldn’t say the ceiling is collapsed on her, and she’s pretty much a heal/blue beam bot. The biggest one we have.

Sorry, I’m not sure what you mean. Choose what option and continue on which loop?

Of agreeing to be constantly flanked. Which is pretty much what you sign up for, when continuing to play support.

Not sure why, guess some people like pain.

While that person was speaking exclusively about Mercy, which I eventually came to understand, when I said this I mean the entire support roster. In no way do I think support as a role would benefit from all being like this, or predominantly. I also don’t trust Blizzard in the least to be able to consistently design engaging, exceptionally skill expressionable “passive” support roles.

I accept that perhaps I’m an outlier here, but I just can’t grasp the concept about that kind of dull archetype being the mainstay, and rarely do I come across games that do that.

oh yes, yes, unfortunately. I stopped playing this season so far  season 1 i was getting by, season 2 the hunting intensified and I’ve been playing raft instead.

As a gm brig i dont mind the flankers i think just because of my main but the only issue thats making me hate the game is HOG FREAK THAT HERO which just puts me in kiriko jail all the time

Yes… But how often it is? less than 20%, and it is just take couple of shots at a key target when there is a great opportunity…

Outside ofcourse meme battle mercy shooting for 15 seconds straight…

yes it is the case for me. Just let me exist here in my niche and have fun… And make queue times for dps and tanks a tad bit better.

Well, maybe some people want that but I don’t…

Mercy, and probably that new hero that they want to give us in the future… All tho I am not sure if they will deliver it. I am fine either way.

I know that some people want that… And I know that this is a reason that some people are not OTPs, or ‘mains’ or whatever we want to call that, but play almost everything and they play what is the strongest choice at the moment. And it is ok, as long every one have fun.

Well, you sounded like having ‘mechanical skill expression on ALL heroes’ is what this game should be about, while saying that I want exactly opposite of that… That would make it a projection… If it is not what you meant then I apologize…

It is a game… If I have fun it is for me…

Unless I get pay for it, then I play even if I do not have fun (if money is good).

I think it is working… I am pretty sure that they would drop prices already if they didn’t sell enough stuff from the shop

yes, they did drop the ball on that… Hard.

That IS a big mistake on their part… I agree…

Some are… Some not… I don’t think that generalization is fair…

yep. it’s still a shooter game regardless.

I think it’d be a lot easier for Support players to ease into the Heal and Hurt kind of playstyle if more of the Supports actually had kits that were actually meant for the 5v5 environment. I’m mainly referring to how Kiriko’s kit encourages her to play aggressively by making it very apparent that her whole theme is damaging and healing, both visually and mechanically. Even her abilities (Swift Step & Suzu) open up opportunities for her to engage and disengage from aggressive plays.

For example, while Zenyatta is kinda already at this point, he lacks the mobility and self-protection that Kiriko has, which encourages him to play from the backline, under the protection of (what’s supposed to be) the frontline. But ever since 5v5, you can’t really play this way as often as you used to, since there’s one less tank and the new map/gamemode designs mean that pretty much everyone’s out there on the field. So you’re pretty vulnerable unless you hit your shots and/or play really carefully.

but yeah. not using all this as an excuse to heal-bot, just saying that it’s definitely a lot easier for players to lean into the heal-bot kind of playstyle with the way most of the OW1 Supports are rn.

so i hope that the devs actually have plans to adjust a bunch of the OW1 Supports accordingly to how things are right now.

Ugh, we can all dream. with AC6 coming out I’m going to take up streaming as seriously as I can. Here’s hoping.

Well, I guess it’s working for someone, true.

Anyway, I’m glad we could resolve… well, I don’t know if I’d say it was a conflict, but our discussion.

Meanwhile, the best way to build Kitsune Rush is just healbot, with tad a bit of damage thrown here and there… And that is one of the strongest ults in the game…

Yup… I like to end up discussions in a civilized maner… Thank you kind sir/madam

I understand what you are saying, my suggestion was to give them some mobility then “balance accordingly”. If that means nerf Discord a little more/sleep dart or whatever else.

All I get is thanks and endorsements, win or lose.

Y’all are manifesting the attitude you’re getting flamed for, creating problems where none exist.

Day 2, so far queue times only get better.

yeah, at the end of the day she’s still a Support. i don’t mean to imply that she should be fighting more than healing. just that her kit is pretty rewarding for Kirikos that go out of their way to get some headshots/kills when the opportunity presents itself. whatever they deem as an opportunity, anyway.

I’m losing my interest to play the game, not because Supports are bad. But because Overwatch has the same Matchmaking system as Heroes of the Storm.

It’s a dice roll every time you enter a match.
3 ways.
1 Win because your team is WAY better than the opponents.
1 Lose because the reverse
1 Long and good match where all 10 players even thanks eachother nomatter who won or lost because this time MM found the right players in same skill level.

It’s extremely boring literally feeling the time you waste by being a support to tanks and damage dealers that you see play horribly.

Sorry, it sounded like that… My bad then

Sure. But a wise man once said that you should go for kunais about 20% of the time, if you name is ML7… Other than that it should be about 10% of the time…

Enemy dps/tanks: Pocketed and unkillable because of mercy/kiriko

Our dps/tanks: Dies instantly because we have brig/lucio being dps instead of healing

our Supports: PLEASE FIX SUPPORT IT’S NOT FUNNY ANYMORE I CAN’T JUST DPS LUCIO ALL GAME I HAVE TO HEAL IT’S NOT FUN ANYMORE PLEASE BLIZZY FIX IT!!

It’s every heros job to do damage not just dps

Solo queue in any game isn’t optimized in the solo player’s favor.

I have stopped playing.
And I dislike that honestly.
Loved this game, loved playing support.

But what OW2 has become is unacceptable for me at this moment.
And it’s not just the monetization but gameplay as well.

5v5 is not fun in OW2.
Frontline is barely there anymore.
Enemy flankers walk in your backline like it’s free real-estate.
And it has made playing support so frustrating.

Devs “buff” them by giving them minor non support related changes.
Faster weapon switch and more bullets for Mercy? Really?
You actually want me to heal less and get flamed more?

If you play main support and suddenly have to do DPS their job of killing the enemy, why are you playing support that isn’t optimized for that job?

Balance is a hot mess.

The little things that got removed such as end-of-game players cards.

And certain stats that used to be tracked such as Objective Time on supports is straight up gone.
Stuck pushing the payload on support and I have nothing to show for it.
In OW1 at least you saw that stat and a gold medal and thought to yourself:
“Huh, without me this thing wouldn’t have moved”.
And you had proof!
