As someone who plays all roles, as a dps, i almost always get healing. And i do my best to heal others when im support. What i see a lot however, is bad dps, running in alone, or not utilizing cover. Healing doesnt matter if its getting dbuffed. Healing doesnt matter if the damage being pumped into you, is mitigating the healing. Do better.
Honest thought here, not busting chops or arguing to argue…
A healing received number really would never paint the correct picture.
I get any number players on my team when I solo queue who spend most, if not all, of the fight out of line-of-site, or off on their own, or over extended, or face-tanking, or some off-angle position that forces me to turn from the actual fight at hand, or any combination of those, etc, whom I can’t heal…even when I want to.
Those players might show tons of elims, but also tons of deaths, and the scoreboard would show low healing resources sent their way (some even zero). So, if you just looked at the scoreboard one would think the support was ignoring them, when the truth is, it was that other player’s fault.
So unless the scoreboard also added a damage received, and/or a percent of time in range of healing, a healing received number doesn’t give a clear enough picture of anything…IMHO.
I would be down for a stat that indicates the time spent outside of support LoS if they ever added it. I just want this for my own selfish reasons to be honest. It would help me. I am sure plenty of other people would misuse it as they already do. And hey, I am not perfect. I would probably interpret the numbers incorrectly from time to time as well. I just feel as if the additional information can help me decide on my adjustments because I am an extremely prideful and noble beast that does not change its ways easily. If I see an objective outside source, I am FAR more likely to adapt.
I could also do it the slow way. I have my Sistah Spice to help a bit. If I stray too far, she can tell me. It’s like cheat codes.
This is a topic that is very sensitive.
While, yes, it is a Supports responsibility to make sure they can support their team, not it is not completely up to them to make sure they stay in LoS with their team.
Let me explain.
There are times where they simply can not retain LoS with their team, this is a situation where it is up to the rest of the team (second Support included) to maintain contact with their Support. I speak of course, when the Support(s) are under attack.
Otherwise, yes, your Support should do their best to keep you in LoS, even as they’re trying to help deal some damage. But it is not the Supports job to keep you in LoS at all times, they are not obligated to put themselves into dangerous situations, just to make sure you get to make your big play. Because it is a 50/50 chance your big play even lands the way you thought it would.
Once again for the DPS in the back (running out of spawn)
And no matter how salty they get, I will still taxi them
Every time, an oddly satisfying feeling
The scoreboard is never going to tell the whole story - but more stats would only tell more of it. Adding the healing received by x and y would be an easy thing to add. I’d also like team totals:
TeamA total damage vs TeamB total healing (and vice versa)
People not knowing how to interpret those stats is where the toxicity stems. You’re going to have toxicity no matter what though. I don’t think more stats will increase that level
??? So, you know you’re not playing well, and you’re upset someone called you out ???
Also I’m not sure how the title applies? Are your supps not following you to Narnia?
This would also be misleading too. For example, someone could be out of LoS for all their deaths but be in LoS when they don’t need healing or are a lower priority than the rest of the team.
There’s a lot of reasons flat numbers are bad, including the ones we already have and I’ll probably make a post about it at some point, but they’re never an accurate representation of what’s going on unless you have all the context, and that requires paying attention to a point where you won’t need stats to figure out what’s going on.
also rip in run on sentence
Nah If lucio is doing a good job taking enemy resources and attention while living, and chasing down low hp targets killing them, he doesn’t need to heal you. Especially if he’s got good synergy speeding with your tank. You just need to adapt to the lower healing, don’t fight in disadvantageous positions and hit your shots.
If lucio is feeding and dying first, then yeah he sucks.
Saying that if I’m on support and you’re reaper, I’ll probably be speeding and healing you between hunting down low hp targets. Lucio has great synergy with Reaper. You should be playing in vacinity of your tank anyway to get best value in many if not most situations.
If only bad dps and tank players understood what Lucio is good at
