Support Sombra in Mirror Watch

I’m a bit late to the party, but Reverse Sombra is a ton of fun.

One of the reasons DPS feels so boring to play many times is because DPS have the fewest ways to interact with their allies and offer their team the least amount of ways to empower them at all.

Sombra is a great way of doing that by denying enemy plays offensively due to virus to cut damage and bolstering their attack speed and survival to make plays. The only DPS that even remotely feels supportive in nature is Symmetra or Torbjorn because you can build constructs specifically around your allies. Syms teleporter. Coverage with turrets.

I’ve always been extremely disappointed that we have 18 DPS in the game and all of them are like just about pure DPS with very little overlap towards allies. If we ever got a card system like Paladins, it would be insanely fun to cater some of these abilities towards that.

This version of Sombra is more or less a support version. Make virus a heal ability or make the hack be healing instead of overhealth and you have a good support. It has no place in the DPS role, but I agree that she is really fun to play.

But, that’s the entire point. To have DPS that can be supportive in nature and simply offer more damage and ignore the whole healing minigame. We already have enough support + DPS hybrids. None of them exist in reverse.

Because thats not their role. There is support if you want to play a support. We have support-DPS, because of their mechanic or the offensive nature of support (debuffs). Same for tanks with their shield and CC abilities.

DPS heroes main job is to secure kills and do damage. More “supportive” than Mei, current Sombra or Sym (heroes who are pretty trashy most of the time), will we not get.

Mirror Sombra would be a support and they would have to include a heal. She is not a DPS. She could not secure kills or do enough damage.

This is the cancerous mindset of DPS players. They really don’t give a damn about helping others. Tanks and Supports both have tools to help each other either from direct shielding CC or indirectly through it via healing and other effects.

DPS players time and time again only give a damn about what can they do to 1v1 someone else on the enemy team. Not thinking of how can we generate advantage by 2v1’ing this target or other things.

The reason DPS have sucked for so long is because all they do is damage and nothing else. Blizzard has refused to build in anything other than dmg and mobility into DPS. Tank’s primary purpose is to tank damage not go murder things. Yet they happen to do it at the same time.

We really need stop thinking of this stupid idea that DPS can’t bloody help someone else indirectly through supportive options.

If Sombra was moved to the Support role, and made to fit in it, would it really be a bad thing though?

We keep destroying the uniqueness of heroes in a role and homogenizing them into boredom by pulling nonsense like that. The DPS role has diversity where you can be a few tanky heroes from Reaper, Bastion, Torbjorn, and Mei. It lets you feel like a bulky DPS without being a tank.

We have divey supports, DPS, and tanks. With Role Q existing for good reason, it also makes since to have diversity in all of the roles to do different things. We have the tanky support brig. We have the DPS centric Zenyatta.

Supportive DPS don’t really exist at all because everyone keeps trying to turn them into supports.

And I don’t think it’s something you should care about. You don’t have to pick DPS. You can play Support, and still play the hero. In fact, you might even like playing Support more, due to shorter queue times.
