Support is the hardest role

I’ve never gotten like such insanely high stats and I usually say stats don’t matter but they at least contribute to something both kills and damage I’ve never gotten such insanely high stats and it do absolutely nothing.

I keep damaging the extra hp people have that would usually lead to there death, but now so many cool downs and heals are being dished out in that fraction of time (combined with the dps passive) none of my stats mean anything like legit anything I could play a game going full dps and I’d get the same results as actually attempting to play my role correctly at this point.

Even with all my “Easy to aim abilities” and immortalites on XYX support it just dosen’t contribute to anything.

I’d argue tank is, but you have your own experience and skill to go off.

Definitely in competition for hardest role at least.

There is no hardest role. Nor, for that matter, is there a hardest hero.

There is, however, a huge range of playstyles available which can be more or less difficult, a countless variety of match circumstances which will challenge some heroes/roles more than others, and differences in the players themselves–their aptitude and their background, which skills they already possess, will affect which heroes are difficult to pick up.

There are also a bunch of fragile e-boys in this community who have to make excuses for their mediocrity by pretending their hero/role is so much more difficult than everybody else’s.

If argue there’s no point in comparing roles, beyond how popular they are in role queue, and how that affects queue times and matchmaking.

And that people were don’t think Balance is fundamentally different, with the addition of Role Limits, half a decade ago, don’t really know what Balance means.

Yeah, as far as expectations go, damage and support are pretty straightforward. Tank, on the other hand, is more fluid and dynamic, constantly shifting from babysitting to aggro. The other roles do this too, however the microscope seems to favor the tank when things go south with regards to the blame game. Tank is just a much more mentally challenging role for this reason alone, imo.

I don’t know how people can compare roles when, even inside each role, the available heroes are all completely different.

Because everyone needs to perform to win, calling any role the “hardest” means nothing. If dps is “easy” then it’s easy for your opponents, too.

Support is definitely not the hardest role.

It sure does feels like that when 4 people are trying to kill you all the time, your healing is unimpactful and most abilities countered by the enemies.

My heals aren’t enough and my damage isn’t enough. Most abilities only get value with follow up and who knows if people will follow up on stuff.

Only your ult is really the thing with a chance of impact, but that’s about it. And even then it s usually countered quite handily. And only gets value if people actually make use of it.

Even if it might not be the hardest role, it does feel pretty unimpactful if your team doesn’t work with you despite you doing your best to enable them.

I play all the roles and none of them feel any harder or easier to me.

Lol it is the autopilot role.

For the average player I think the roles are fairly equal. There will usually be a rank or two difference with their main role but that’s it. No one is GM in one role and silver in another. General game sense and the Overwatch brain (whatever that is) is transferable between roles as is mechanics. If anything the performance difference will be bigger between the heroes within each role as there is always a hero in each role that people hate or struggle to play.

That’s not how Overwatch works

Sadly, it is just you, and you alone on that team

The moment you get paired with randoms that have similar skill, you’ll see how they start focusing and finishing critical enemies that are trying to escape

In the meanwhile, and with this matchmaking, having one carry blowing up the scoreboard means very little to be honest

Single tank is a thing, so no…
Blamed when you lose ignored when you win. You have to play absolutely pixel perfect at all times and it becomes exhausting, no other role is like that.

Yup, Tank is hardest mainly due to single tank, Support second because you are going to be bullied 1 of 2 ways, by your team because they feel you didn’t heal enough (while you are sitting over 10k in healing on them) or by the enemy whos whole team dives on your head the second they know where you are. Damage is the least difficult role… point and shoot… but they are also the loudest constantly saying “things don’t die nerf all the tings”

The rainbow flag checks out with the sophistry speech.

Blocked BTW don’t bother.

There are low/high skill floor characters, but if you say roles, there is no such things.

There is just how much influence you have to win/lose. One strong tank has currently the biggest influence, meaning their winrate reflects their skill more clearly than that of other roles. Easier to win if your good as well as easier to lose if your bad.

Tell us you don’t actually play without telling us you don’t actually play.

Take all the cc, make all the space, save all the teammates.

Other role mains: why do tanks think playing is so hard?

:unamused:
