I’m saying that there is a lot of room between yolo feeding and staying so far back that you struggle to get value. Also saying that playing in Silver while expecting that your team is going to play like Plats is asking for a bad time. We’re all bad, adapt and have fun!
dps impact is way more considerable, but supports x tanks are actuall cary of this game bc they are able to make “conditions”

There’s a ton you could do as a support player to win games, especially in silver (OP’s rank).
Op, if you would like coaching, feel free to hit me up on discord, my tag is Nickdarick#7021
I think this was more of a commiserating about the pain of being able to see all the misplays kind of thread. And less of a “OMG, why are all my teammates trash while I am below my true rank” kind of thread.
edit: Lol, just realized you were not addressing OP… sorry, been a long day.
lol before I even clicked that link I predicted it was going to be an mL7 video.
Ok, I suppose you can carry on support if you’re ML7 playing in gold, even though the only video I actually watched of him he lost in low SR while playing Mercy. Since that one unlike the other supports he plays actually intrigued me about how it was possible to climb from unranked to GM while one tricking Mercy. I suppose I should have mentioned that smurfs don’t count in my previous post but I thought that was easily implied.
No, you literally stated
You make it sound like having a good support is valueless. You know how you make impact in games as support? Get better as support.
Not valueless, I think it might even be the second most impactful role besides tanks currently. Support is my highest SR role and I can do a lot on support if my team is half decent but it is still by far the hardest role to carry when your DPS and tanks are bad.
You’re right!
Tanks always know how a team fight is won but never how one is actually lost.
Meaning, we can see why the enemy goes down but we can’t usually see why our own team falls.
Redshell does it. Jjonak does it. Eskay does it. Rammy does it. Dspstanky does it. Rawkus. Unkoe. Funnyastro.
support is just as frustrating as any other role.
you know the amount of times I’ve been standing next to a moira with 70health and she just runs right past me to heal the tank for his missing 30health? -_-
or the number of times that the lucio and zen are running thru choke when the tanks and dps are still regrouping?
Or when you play tank and your mercy is just pocketing her dps friend instead of healing you during the onslaught of damage your taking from their push. Or being a tank and having gold dmg/elims but your cotank is allergic to the payload.
As someone who plays both dps and support… No role is perfect or superior.
In fact, I find the most toxic role to be support because they heal and expect to win just because they’re healing.
Question is, are they healing the right people at the right times? Are they enabling the right people? Enabling the worse of the dps sometimes helps and sometimes is pointless. Sometimes you have to apply dmg yourself but it’s so difficult to know when to do dmg and when to heal.
In my opinion, support is definitely the most difficult role because you have to keep track of so many things while keeping yourself alive (as in not counting on teammates to peel although its great if they do). But that doesn’t give any excuse to be entitled.
Dude, sometimes you have to be a “dps support”. A support isn’t just a heal bot, lmao! You have to help do damage sometimes. If no one is critical in your team, you’ll be dps and kill stuff, or just hurt stuff, so the dps can finish them off. Just play Moira or Brigitte! Brigitte is my main this week (because Bap is banned) and damn, she rocks! You can win games with her easily, because of her CC. I’ll guess I’ll stick to her for a longer period. Goat skin is also so sexy!
Playing support is awful. You get blamed for not healing when you’re doing your best to heal everyone. May not be that great mechanically, but you’re certainly trying your hardest. I’m on a 12 game losing streak and have won maybe 5 of my last 35. Again, I know I’m not perfect, but you can’t tell me it’s my fault as a support for all of the losses. I’ve done 20k plus healing and lost. I’ve been on fire for 66% of a match and lost. The matchmaking just doesn’t balance out ever. You can’t carry as support either. All you can do is heal and use your utility skills the best you can and pray you have a decent team around you.
Don’t play support, too hard to carry.
I’ve had my butt carried hard by supports numerous times while I was just walking out of spawn after respawning. Of course you’re not gonna carry if you spend your time complaining about your team.
Ironically that’s not what I do. I literally ask myself what do I have to do to get a win and nothing I try seems to matter.
Try posting a vod.
I’m in the happy position of generally knowing what I’ve done wrong when I lose as support.
I’m generally tunnel visioning or go auto pilot. Or not swapping off an ineffective hero quickly enough.
The only point I’m trying to make is that supports are the hardest role to carry when the rest of your team are bots. Look if you have a choice between these teams who do you pick:
Diamond Ana + 5 plats or Diamond Genji + 5 plats
Honestly I think that is a tough call and would be fine with either.
Now lets compare that to:
Diamond Ana + 5 silvers or Diamond Genji + 5 silvers
I would easily take the Diamond Genji here because it is a lot easier to 1v6 on that hero which is basically the win condition in this scenario.
Tbf, I’ve had matches against some pretty frickin mean Ana’s. I’m 100% sure they were WAAAaaaayyyy above my pay grade. The horrible thing about smurf Anas is that they hide their smurfiness because they know how to hide their perfect aim by alternating healing their team and shutting down major plays and win conditions from some place always just out of reach. When you are aware enough to know they are the hidden threat, they are aware enough to shut down your clunky attempts to interrupt them.
Genji just swoops in and masscres the whole team.
You can hard carry as a support. Especially with Ana and Moira but all of them are possible.
I learned to hard carry when I learned how to farm ults. You have to be doing stuff as often as you can to build ult.
Lucio needs to be getting his gun down range.
Ana needs to hit scoped shots between healing.
Moira needs to ricochet damage orbs before team fights.
Mercy on the damage boost toggle until healing is needed.
Like that for every character. Build ult fast.
I’d take the Genji over the Ana because I don’t feel like Ana is good match against a Genji in that scenario.
But if it was a Lucio v Genji I’d take the Lucio because he’s a strong counter. Beat > Blade.
