Stop with this "the perfect pocket healer" Mercy thing

Who here actually enjoys being a sidekick? Meta wise, she might be perfect for exactly that, but that’s not what we, Mercy players, want Mercy to be.

For me personally, I love beam juggling and decision making. Seeing someone switch to a DPS hero that works the best with Mercy just straight up pisses me off. Like, I don’t want to pocket you the whole game, I want to support the whole team.

just play other supports lol
Yeah like that’s going to solve things.

Pocketing is how Mercy works.

Pocketing a specific character the entire game is what a bad Mercy does.

I don’t understand what you’re trying to get at here.

Mercy + rein + DPS = victory simple math

If a teammate swaps to give your team more synergy, he/she is a very smart player.

It sounds like you just don’t like playing Mercy anymore.

Atm Mercy is only really a damage boosting accessory to pharah bastion and now ashe now she’s been added into the game.

It feels bad.

i don’t mind doing it

it was the optimal way to play her prerework anyways

It does when I’m bored of being a punching bag on Rein i play an off-tank i don’t make posts asking the devs to give me anti-cc and a wall climbing ability :man_shrugging:

Wait, you speak for all of us? I wasn’t aware.
I like Mercy where she is. I like that she enables teammates to do their job easier. That is what initially caught my attention about her.

So… just because they swap to a DPS you work well with doesn’t mean you need to pocket them. You can beam juggle and make decisions with a Pharah; I do it all the time. I argue that Mercy’s that stay with just Pharah are bad and actively throwing (depending on the Pharah of course)

It has for me. I used to be a Mercy 1 trick and now I can play most of the supports.
Lucio is very, very fun.

Mercy has been the pocket healer of the game since launch.

It’s not a Mercy issue anymore. The devs screwed themselves into a hole by refusing to fix her poorly designed kit and balancing a quarter of the roster around having a pocket.

Worst part is that they probably think this promotes team synergy and is good for the game.

Hate to break it to yah but that’s how the devs want her. She’s best with pocketing heroes like Widow Mccree Pharah and now Ashe. Jeff said at Blizzcon that they don’t want her to be the best support. She has a place in the game that isn’t meta right now. Get used to it, she boosts her teams dmg>healing her team. If you don’t like it switch your main to fulfill that role.

Yeah, I’m super disappointed about the Geoff interview where he talked about how that’s all they want her to be. I’m probably gonna drop this game for a while.

I feel like it’s cuz now mercy is almost always played with another main healer so she doesn’t have to focus on healing the rest of the team. Cuz if you just have mercy and an off healer it’s not enough healing anymore

I don’t think that’s what they meant.

It’s more like the problem is having to pick another support over Mercy because they are more impactful than she is right now.

uh sorry but I don’t feel like a sidekick when I play mercy and you insinuating I’m an accessory is particularly offensive, just because you dislike Mercy doesn’t mean everyone does, so yeah, if you don’t like Mercy, don’t play her, let me pick her and enjoy her gameplay

Mercy is clearly designed to be a pocket healer. She’s the only support who can’t support more than one teammate at a time without ulting, the only support that displays their health on their heal target’s HUD, and the only support that says “I’m still with you!” when you continually heal someone. That doesn’t mean you have to give your Pharah the succ all game, that just means Mercy excels at enabling a teammate that’s in position to make a high impact play at a given moment.

You forgot about Zen there, guy. He can only heal one target at a time without ulting.

Raises hand.

If you don’t like playing a supportive role, why are you playing Mercy?

Her job is to heal the DPS like Moira does with tanks. That’s why GA is one of the best mobility tools in the game, to keep up with the flankers.

Mercy is designed to help flankers and then pop Valk in a teamfight to keep the entire team boosted or sustained. Or at least that’s what her kit seems to be tailored to.

If anything, surely it would be nice to have the team willing to switch to accommodate you as a Mercy player by playing heroes that best compliment your abilities.

You’re not expected to be tethered to one DPS the whole match, you can switch between them like any good healer should, but pocketing them is your job.

If you don’t like that, why are you wasting your time on her?

It’s OK not to like the direction the Devs took with her and it’s also OK not to want to play her anymore for any reason.
