I let them die, its only when you let them die that they start to play more passively. If you help them whenever they over extend or play like fools that you feed into their habit. I do it too when I play dps, I pop off and then I get overly confident only to die or get saved by my support. Thankfully Im the type that adapts as I play so if I see my action almost killed my team then I change my play style. Its a skill not many players have unfortunately.
