Different situation. You can see the opponent’s faces. You can read their body language. You can’t do that in this game. You’re also more likely to know them than online.

That doesn’t inherently mean GG is different.
I understand you didn’t say that, but this insinuates the platform its used on inherently changes its meaning… it doesn’t.
So the one thing that bothers me about this, is we’re all kind of on one side of the fence or the other. We have a conversation going on where most of a half are trying to convince the other side it’s a good thing, most of the other half are trying to convince the other side it’s an inherently bad thing…
Can we all just agree we have absolutely no right to assume either as an absolute, or to try and dictate the meaning of it or how it comes off to all people?
None of us can possibly know the utter truth, and I love conversations but there is some stubbornness here (excluding T-Reb because we know what he’s about) in accepting that some people don’t find it offensive and some people… seem to want to find it offensive.
The conversation is sort of moot for as long as people let their sensitivities have the better of them…
So the best thing here is to accept that some people genuinely mean it in respect, regardless of the circumstance, some are saying it sarcastically, some say it out of sheer habit and others say it ironically.
The one thing we SHOULD agree on, is not to let it bother us because we’re all so above that circumstance in life that it is doing yourself a huge disfavour in allowing yourself, or seeking out, being upset over someone saying GG when your team loses. You’re doing yourself more damage than anyone else in that circumstance.
Check your dispositions and make sure they are healthy for you.
No. Gg has been around for years and years. I’m sorry that the new generation of players find everything to be offensive but there’s nothing wrong with GG. You all would not have survived in the Xbox/xbox360 halo, gears, and call of duty days if you find two letters offensive. Gg is a sign of respect the same as shaking hands no matter who wins. Please stop creating problems.

Apparently not.
You can’t make the distinction between what is going on in your head and what’s going on in other people’s heads. You assume your thoughts make their contradictory thoughts automatically irrelevant.
We shouldn’t agree that’s a good thing.
We can easily put up barriers so that this doesn’t bother us, but now we’ve got barriers up and there’s going to be poor community engagement. It’s not enough that people are simply neutral about a community, people need to be positive about being part of a community.
This is not going to contribute to people being glad to be part of a community, communities help games survive in the long run.

For anyone else confused,
In the context (circumstance) that GG being used when someone leaves or gets stomped, some people (IE: the origin of this entire thread) suggest that it is bad/not cool/don’t do it because you come off like a jerk,
When the reality is within that context still exists two polar opposites of use, and within that spectrum rests many variable realities (that T-Reb has chosen to ignore and doesn’t surprise me that he would reject reality), and thus some people are, in absolute fashion, choosing to believe it is inherently -bad-, in that context, or poor sportsmanship or ignorant or what have you.
We do not dictate that circumstance, and having a closed mind and assuming this absolute is doing yourself more harm than good and is a negative disposition you have chosen to adhere to.
This isn’t for T-Reb, because he’s 21513x off his rocker and following a C-Tier Troll’s Guide to the Universe, but for anyone else who may have been intellectually crippled over his lazy posts meant to incite confusion and chaos.

Why do people keep bringing up ‘shaking hands’ in real sports like its something diffrent or sacred? Its the same BS as this.
Players are forced to shake hands for ‘sportsman ship’, they dont have the option. Doesnt matter if they hate the game they just played or dislike the other team/players, and in that instance the hand shake itself is a lie.
Why do people see this as a good thing? Why do people see FAKING comraderie or having had good time as a good thing? I dont understand this. It seems to be something thats just accepted as ‘what you do’ without any true thought behind it.
Using ‘shaking hands’ as some sort of answer or comparison doesn’t actually prove any point nor validate any examples here.
