It was clearly an over-exaggeration of how many non-mercy mains don’t want old rez as most of them seriously don’t want it back anyway. Understand it and move on.
The rework is fair and balanced, it’s a perfectly reasonable to try out nerfs along with buffs. Mass rez was also the opposite of “fair and balanced” which ultimately led to many complaints and toxicity from the community directed at Mercy mains. They did not “butcher” Mercy in the process, they were trying ways to balance her. Trust me, it’s very hard to even touch Mercy at this point as the community’s feedback is so divided.
I think that the rework has been successful so far tbh, I think she’s fair and balanced and doesn’t control the games as much as she used to.
I disagree, think of how hard it would be to keep mass-rez while trying to balance it. It can take a lot of effort and the effort wouldn’t even be worth it in the end as it would still upset a lot of players who wanted mass-rez to be gone. Which ultimately led to the removal of mass-rez as the solutions could bring more problems to Overwatch than the problems they were fixing.
There are no other choices but to remove mass-rez altogether, do you seriously expect mass-rez to be balanced? Think of how hard it would be, you’d have to go to extreme lengths to properly “balance” it. I still don’t believe it can be balanced, though. There are many different ways you can replace it, but I don’t think that keeping it would be beneficial in this case. Although I feel bad for her mains and I understand their frustration, they still need to look at the Overwatch community as one and take the people who are against her mass-rez state into consideration. Ik not every mercy main wants mass-rez back, however, most of them do.
I agree it has been a mess from day one which is why they kept nerfing it and it got to this point, Mercy was still powerful each time after the nerfs. I think that the reason she was such a mess and no one knew what to do with her is because the feedback from the community was so divided. Although it has been a mess from day one, I still believe that it gradually got to a balanced state after a while.
