Stomps are not what you think

A game that feels like an up hill battle or easier then others, are not stomps.

Especially when said scenarios can change after one good swap or ult play.

What a stomp actually is, is complete outer wash where one team just completely over runs the other.

This being a good example of one:

P7SPTN

Were the enemy team completely just couldn’t hold it together at all, and the enemy tank just giving up on the last point.

However if their is back and forth, were you and the enemy have taken control of the point. Or have won rounds out right. Such as below.

WKXYB1

Then that isn’t a stomp.

That is how games are supposed to progress normally.

I think people expect a “close” game to be one where the scoreboard shows an even number of kills, damage, etc, but this game will never work that way since it’s based around team fights. Stats and score never tell the whole story. A 3-0 win in Flashpoint can still be incredibly close.

Pretty much. Seen clean sweeps in OWL games in the past but the scoreline in no way reflected how good and close a game it really was.

And then the same two OWL teams play match 2 on a different map and it’s a reverse sweep of 0-3

The funny part about the second game, that nails this point.

Is that I as bastion, had nearly double the kills of the whole lobby (As in each of the individual players). And deaths on the lower end of my team.

While using ult to secure backline picks, or break apart chokes holds so my team could engage.

Their is 100% things I could have done differently to progress and win the team fight.

But sure as heck did what I could in the moment to give and get my team the momentum they needed.

And we lost 2~1.

Stats are simply not a good metric of game quality.

Yeah, i get those. You lose 3-0 and someone in your team says diff or another stomp 10min q for this
But if you actually look at the fights you see that the enemy had like 2 people that where 1 hit away from being dead. But someone in the team missed a shot, another shot something else and the support was topping up the 90% tank. Then 1sec later they get burst healed by the ana and 5s later they get the pick that won the fight for the enemy.

I think they should do-away with scoreboards then or at least until the match concludes.

Nothing is more demoralizing than keying over and seeing your team going 0 against 10 and then just going “okay, This is another craptastic match that has no potential.”

People give up.

Stomps are a tough one. Its really a Battle of Will and Persistence. On the very rare occassion, I have seen a stomp turn around to a win. But usually my team will just give up. My favorites are the Final Stand where my team will just go all-out on the last few percent or the last few meters. It is such a rush! :hushed:

They should get rid of scoreboards, and they never should have added them. Toxicity has exploded since they were added, and they don’t provide any needed info to anyone paying attention to the match, just information for bad players to misinterpret.

I hate it when someone responds to requests or strategy suggestions by saying “2-7”, like I don’t have 7 deaths because they’re playing DVa as a fat DPS instead of tanking for me. Scoreboards reinforce poor play.

Been saying this since they showed it off in the OW2 beta. 110% agreed.
