Are you guys gonna fix the gold gun issue?
Hi, can you please look into the server disconnect issues.?
Nice! Thanks for giving updates on it!
Seems to be working as intended lol.
This fixed it for me. Thank you.
This issue has been quite annoying lately. Glad to see a resolve has been found. Thank you for the update, Matt.
Could anyone please confirm if the fix has been rolled out?
Been playing on Battle.net to avoid the issue, uninstalled on Steam to save space and don’t want to redownload just to check.
Would love to go back to Steam if I can already.
Still happening, just downloaded 14GB of an OW2 update when logging into Steam today. Again.
I’m running Steam Native on CachyOS Linux.
Also happens in Steam Runtime.
literally just make the folder “overwatch” read-only. fixed it for me instantly
Similar issue. 14GB download almost every time I want to launch Steam. Running Steam natively on Fedora 41. I don’t want to “fall back” to Battle.net because that’s just me installing a non-native launcher (which will add another layer of complexity) solely for this single game.
All of the games I play are from Steam, so when OW2 was announced on Steam, I was happy.
What’s the point of having OW2 on Steam if the devs are just going to leave it broken? Either remove it, or upkeep it. If you remove it, I will indeed stop playing because I am not willing to have a separate Windows partition for just one game, nor am I willing to install a separate launcher just for one game (which also needs to go thru a compatibility layer).
Those who just say “bye” are people who don’t have empathy for other people’s problems. If it doesn’t affect them, they don’t care.
I think I found a workaround. In Steam, go to Overwatch 2 and click on “Properties…”. Click on “Updates” on the left column of the dialog box, and set “Automatic Updates” to “Only update this game when I launch it”. Now, when you start the game, an update to OW2 will start, just head to Library > Downloads immediately to view your current downloads, and pause the 14GB OW2 update download. The game will start as if the update is done.
So far, I have been able to play OW2 normally despite the 14GB download being paused. I’m guessing the game will not run if some other update is required to play online (like some patch, or new content), but the annoying everyday 14GB upload can be safely ignored, and the game will still play.
Try it out, let me know how it goes.
Hello,
I have the same problem as others using linux.
Every day, i have a 14.9Gb download.
Is it possible to fix this problem ?
Appart from that, the game works perfectly
I’ll have to give this a try.
EDIT: If I do this, my FPS only gets to 7 FPS while memory usage skyrockets until I my PC crashes due to an OOM event.
