"stay as group" button is gone

It wasn’t used a great deal but it’s still odd they removed it, like it didn’t harm anyone just having it there.

I’m expecting a UI make over by the time school starts. That, guilds or a scoreboard, so we’ll see. maybe the removal is in preparation for a UI make over?

that’s why they need to show us win percentage chance. If I take the time to find 5 people in LFG, and we get a match where it’s 60/40 and we’re the underdogs, I don’t think anyone would leave after a loss

I only found stay as team useful when doing PvE events on high difficulty.
After getting a close run it was very often people wanted to retry in same group.

Back when the feature just came out I remember a comp game where we stomped the enemy team and one guy was like “we were born to be a team” and asked everyone to click that button. Most of us if not all of us clicked that button.

Next game we got stomped and the guy who said “we were born to be a team” was the first to leave at the defeat screen. Didn’t say a word…just left. I didn’t blame him but I lol’d thinking he left to reflect on his misplaced confidence in us as a team.

I dont like the stay as team feature anyway as it always pitches newly formed pug teams against established teams who are friends and have a history of strategizing together. It should be pug matches vs pug matches only

the way I would use, and I hardly ever did, was when I clicked it, I wouldn’t stay as team unless all 5 people also clicked it.

here’s my QoL for the LFG post. If I had all this QoL, I’d never use the matchmaker again.

I don’t agree with this. there is a greater chance that the team you face off again will be long standing friends. But anything is better than a 0% i.e. you already know your team is not used to each other.

I think the odds of going against an established 6 stack in the 1900sr range is far below 20%.

It feels like a ton of people leave the second they see the victory/defeat message and don’t even see the end-game screen at all anyway

I always stay until the vote cards, and vote. I’ll stay to the end when I’m pushing my career high.

btw, you can tell who leaves after the victory screen

What we need is a “Quick Play parameters button” for queing. The new accounts that are being filtered in, are really annoying this week. I had a level 400 bring a lvl 30 to the match and that person kept standing infront of all the ults being used. I mean yeah, its fun to bring a friend. but It would be nice to have SOME control for what we get for randos, handed to us by the system. This isn’t just this once either.

It has become so annoying this week, that I turned minecraft back on and had considerably more fun stacking digital blocks than playing Overwatch.

It would be nice if they had a “Set a level limit”, and a “play among groups limit” OPTION. with a nice message that says “WARNING, Que times may be longer by switching this feature on”.

here is my way of solving new players coming in How matchmaker should work (imho) It’s more about comp and talks about more than just new players but… I say everyone start at zero SR.

currently all new players start in the middle. Why should the average player have to filter out all the new accounts. I say we pass this burden on to the worst of overwatch players and let the new accounts fight their way out.

Once I met a good team and used the button. After 30 min of waiting in 6-stack queue for the match to start we decided to disband. Never used it again since then

I try to make groups so people get the 20% experience bonus, and it’s hard enough getting people to accept since the bonus is not well advertised. I’m guessing and hoping this is a bug.

I am confused by your response, when you play with a pug group via “stay as team”, the people who forms your team are not “friends”…they are all strangers. Yet the game pitches your “team” of strangers against teams of people who have a history of working together and are all on each other’s friends list.

It gave me a n x i e t y

“Oh no! Someone clicked the stay with group button! If I don’t click it too they are going to think I’m mean and hate them!”

Lol jk (sort of) it is pretty weird that it would just be removed since there weren’t complaints about it.

Well, since I’ve also noticed increase in playing with groups like this in the last couple months … I presume those were needed because of 2-2-2, for faster matchmaking, arguably latency conditions were soften a bit as well.

Probably not used much(I can’t remember when someone actually activated it for more than half a second in my games), and therefore removed(to make place for some new feature?).

The last time I saw people use it was when I just got the game and only played vs AI. Kind of forgot it existed.

This is how it went every time.

Team of randoms win a match and gets excited. Someone presses the Stay As Group button.
New team loses next match and everyone leaves.

if all 6 people click ‘stay as group’ they are not 100% certain to go against 6 friends on their next game. 6 strangers can be in the queue. your group is in the queue after all, are they not?

Good morning!

I took a look at your idea. IM 50/50 on it. I really don’t want a playtime and stat tracker to be a bilboard to anyone’s gaming habits. I mean sure, I love being able to look at it, but I got news for you. I am one of the individuals that PUSHED strongly for PRIVATE PROFILES back when they did have this in and I am HAPPY that my decision to take a stand has made players feel LESS alienated while playing this game. I am pleased to hear that Blizzard knew how important this was and went with it.

No player should feel unwelcome here and I truly believe in “Fair gaming” , inclusion and “fair usage of a product”. It means that if a person commits any infraction OUTSIDE of cheating, they should still have access to the game’s ONLINE services. If they breach that contract. They should be suspended from various MODES, chat abilities or the usage of “online mode only”.

What private profiles does, is it makes a person feel like they have a video game infront of them, NOT a billboard figuratively that they have to carry around. Many players whom I visited with on these issues in forums and outside forums felt as though Public profiles is WHY they bought NEW accounts, to HIDE their stats from what is known as “stat bullying”.

I agree, Level constraints are no longer an “addressed issue” and need to be.
The whole issue of keeping players at least marginally satisfied falls on the same thing Blizzard did for World of Warcraft. They set level limits for certain areas and those whom were stronger and higher level could play in Player Vs Player zones within the same level range. It meant players understood a new level of mechanics to the game and the team mates they had, were in that same margin. Which is what we need here on Overwatch.

i highly doubt it. there has been no talk at all of either. not to mention, blizzard only create things that no one wants (at least not many) …
