is by far the worst i have seen. smurfs and trolls aside, you rarely get an even match. ive been in this game since beta, and it just keeps getting worse every year. devs need a major overhaul of overwatch “match making”
I have the exact opposite experience matches are so even to the point its annoying especially when I am the reason why it’s even close in the first place.
At this point I’d honestly be all for a complete MMR reset. Sure, it might create even more unbalanced games than we already have. But I don’t think I’d be as salty about losing to a GM on their main as opposed to their 10th unranked to GM account. At least then I could admit they have a reason to be in my games.
I play mainly on PS4 and I’ve noticed that the matchmaking is all over the place recently. I’m silver dps/tank and gold support on console, yet I literally played a QP game a few hours ago with a literal GM on the enemy team. That was an extreme example from today alone, and usually my games have a mix of players ranging from silver to high diamond. Sure, it can be fun to have a high rank team mate pop off and witness the blood shed, but being on the other side is not fun. Blizzard really needs to fix match making so that it stops being a matter of people either being carried or stomped by high ranked players.
I hope OW2 comes with a full reset of everything, and a lot of changes to the system. Actually, that’s about all i want to hear. I don’t care about PvE. I just hope the PvP is totally revamped.
In my five years experience at this game it’s NEVER been any good. But that’s historically true of ALL blizzard games. Because they use the same ridiculous “algorithm” in every one of their games and it’s just plain GARBAGE.
this hasn’t been my experience. sometimes you get bad actors in your games, sure, sometimes you just get outplayed by a team that meshes more than yours, but usually it’s a pretty good matchup.

I’ve streamed thousands of games with proof to the contrary.
maybe it has something to do with your attitude, i don’t know.
“calm down…”

LoL right. My “attitude” is a direct input to their matchmaking algorithm.
no, but it’s a direct input into the quality of your games and the likelihood of you throwing, tilting your teammates, and / or winning. mentality is incredibly important in any competitive setting, especially team sports.

Mentality has ZERO to do with it in bronze. There is no “team” play in bronze. For me, either my teammates can win 5v6 or they cannot. My contribution is limited to doing as much as I can to avoid feeding enemy ults through my death.
how are you able to be so certain of that if you can’t climb? maybe you should try some positive mental attitude, it might help.

Because - experience. I’ve played normal, I’ve played happy, I’ve played sad, I’ve played angry, I’ve played every possible mental state. And drunk too, which certainly takes the edge of giving a crap. But the result is ALWAYS the same. NEVER possible to win. NEVER even a chance of winning.
The matchmaking is terrible. There are ways for competitive leader boards to not be frustrating. Even the QP matchmaking is awful. win a game then get paired with two > level 25 accounts. I don’t think it should be necessary to play competitive to have a “fair” match.
People are also dropping and ranking up ENTIRE BRACKETS in one go. When most people are swinging 500-1000 SR range’s in a weeks span or less you know the matchmaking is bad. You get cheaters and smurfs swinging around more SR in competitive which further complicates the system. Then you get new players being placed in completely incorrect brackets as well. Group throwing, boosting, and purchased accounts are all contributing to a very flawed leader board.
At the end of the day you gotta ask yourself, what’s the ultimate goal of the matchmaking? It’s the leader board. I’ve seen t500 players in GM win one match and get placed 150 out of 500 for a single match in GM. The other 350 players just aren’t playing? Which makes me believe the matchmaker is relative to who’s online at the time you’re playing.
24 7.
95% of every game I have played in OW is stomp or get stomped. I just dont understand if they have a perfect way to place people and are so confident that they can determine our skill level how I don’t have more balanced evenly matched games. Capture games where one team cant get one percent on the OBJ, payloads where one team just rams it down the throat. Games are so one sided and you just have to hope you got put on the winning side.
Same here. I rarely if ever see an actual fair fight.
a lot of that has to do with bad hero choice, getting staggered and trickling in.
you knew when they removed the feature that allowed you to see grouped people on both side of a match in quick play and competitive that matchmaking was not only broken but they were not going to try to fix it. Just my opinion.
Thats is true but if everyone is equal then the other team should have that problem as well, and have bad hero selection, as well as staggering in. If everyone is at the skill they should be at, and all the games are “even” why are there so many one sided stomp fests?
