They choose nothing (like you dont think when you reply) they just dont care about good prediction factor … they care for quick matches… because streamers whine about that.
Meanwhile a good part of people would like to have longer wait times and more fair games.
Yea I had a 20 minute support queue yesterday. I prefer short queue times

Ofc you do, because you have time to grind … people that want to play a game or two and dont have a whole day to play … you see some people need to work … and just have one or two fair games.

Okay, then why are there cosmetic only changes if your rank is a 1-1 of your MMR?
Player Retention. Same reason they pushed a lot pf players out of bronze into silver/gold, because being told you were in the lowest common denominator isn’t great encouragement to play more.

Smurfs either manipulate their MMR by deranking intentionally or it’s a new account and the MMR hasn’t calibrated yet. Neither of these scenarios challenges what GoldA said.
