Someone please for the love of God explain to me what this is suppose to mean?!
I know what a tempo ULTIMATE IS.
In that Moira, Kiriko, Lifeweaver, Lucio, Sym, Torbjorn all have ultimates that can slow down a fight in their allies favor.
This idea of TEMPO goes further beyond abilities and tanks.
Tempo normally refers to how the feel and playstyle of a hero flows in a game.
Their highs and lows being their abilities to make plays being their highpoints or peaks with their downtime or passive states being their low or flat points.
And this all has to deal with their actions per minute which is a complicated way of saying “Seek value for everything you do in a match.”
Whether that would be repositioning, using cover, or scouting/covering an offangle.
But the way the devs used TEMPO shows they mean for these tanks or abilities to control the pacing of a fight. Yet with certain abilities, high sustain, and high burst damage, these attempts at controlling a “tempo” fall short.
So someone explain this weird thought process for me because it does not correlate to anything regarding basic game tempo.
Tempo just means keeping your teams power level consistent. Thats it lol
In the case of Ram it was PR speak to try and hype him up as something special when he really isn’t. But if we pretend that it wasn’t: I’d guess a tempo character has hot/cold gameplay where when they pop Overload, Sentry or Nemesis their power level is relatively higher than normal characters, but when Overload etc. are on cooldown tempo characters are relatively weaker than normal characters.

Omg…Mauga is a tempo tank.
That feels horrible.
With Overdrive he gains massive advantages, but without it he has to hold his position or he gets chewed up.
Then cage allows him to become a shielded turret.
What is wrong with these devs?!

I’ll take your word for it. I haven’t even unlocked Mauga yet, let alone played the guy.
I figured I might wheel him out against Pharah but I don’t know if he’s even good at that after the nerf.
I mean if she’s dumb enough to stay out in the open she’ll get cooked eventually.
But with a Mercy pocket. Mauga may be the one in trouble.
I’ve barely played him since the testing weekend and well the Battle if Beasts mode, but I’ve found him to be…very distressing in terms of design.
Super self leaning fun and one dimensional gameplay loop with little to no variations for flexibility.

Donno I just want to play nemisis 24/7
Dude…giving Rammattra the choice to swap between forms would have been so unique and fun. It would also make him so much more flexible.
Idk why they even put one form on a cooldown.
Like imagine. An ability like WBall but Ram can choose which form he’ll be in. Of course we’d have to fix up the healthpools so that he’s not swapping back and forth for constant armor gain.
I think blizzard misunderstood tempo. Ram is essentially a role swicth tank aka he jas a change of his own tempo.
Omnic ram is a poke tank, nemesis ram is brawl.
He is a stance tank that cna dwitch between being poke and brawl tank

Not a term, nobody says that
Sadly that stance is on a CD.
I would have designed it bt giving the player choices between the two forms.
That would need nemesis to be much weaker, like removing thw health gain part of it entirely
I have designed a stance awap tank but they def have a diff kit
True dat.
Just get rid of the armor gain give Nemesis form a natural damage reduction give block an “empowered punch option.”
But what do we know? “Blizzard knows what we want” right?
