I get the frustration, but you also stated at the beginning that these are QP matches…
a.k.a. play-what-you-want no SR is at stake matches. So if they want to play Mercy and not be optimal, as long as they’re trying and not throwing, then so be it.
I’ve had plenty of QP matches where I’ve wanted to play Mercy because that’s why I booted up the game, but swapped to another healer to help the team’s odds of winning… just for one or more of the other teammates to stay locked onto a hero that’s getting hard countered and farmed by the enemy. And you know what? That’s their choice. It’s just a QP match in a video game.
Ah, there kinda is.
But I rarely see Mercy’s fighting one another.
I’ve had enemy mercy on my side and we just ignored eachother.
There’s alot of people who just play her on healing beam and rarely switch targets.
I love DPS, but Mercy is fun because you can fly around.
You can be on a teammate for 2 seconds, 7 seconds, 40 seconds.
You can heal them for 3, go to another teammate for a damage boost for 5 seconds, aid your other support, etc.
She’s quite versatile, I like her.
the frustration is only 1/2 at them not adapting, I get that low elo players are inflexible, it’s mostly at the fact that I as a ~3700 on all roles hardstuck should be getting AT MOST low diamond players in my team, NEVER golds.
in my opinion, if you are getting ZERO value and getting farmed (e.g. Ball perma hacked vs Sombra, Phara insta dead with no Mercy player etc.) you should swap in QP also. SR might not be at stake but time of 5 other people is at stake, it’s kinda anti-social to hold a whole lobby hostage for 5 other people cuz of your hero pick, both in QP and in ranked.
I won’t say you have to go the BEST hero possible for the situation, but if you are objectively feeding, swap to something mid-tier at least.
No, I play Mercy cause she’s enjoyable. If you’re going to sit there and use her kit in its most basic form, taking any enjoyment out of the hero, be my guest, if you enjoy 1 dimensional gameplay.
There’s more than one way to play Mercy effectively, and if mine is wrong, please explain to me how I’ve reached masters on more than one account having never pocketed anyone?
Most of the master+ mercy don’t even pocket not even a phara they switch to every target who need help and has a good positioning. Even I think in higher elo u don’t have even time to pocket Someone because the enemy team know about focus and will dive or flank for the second support.
first of all, I wouldn’t exactly brag about reaching low masters as an achievement, low masters players are very bad. I know because I am 3700 ish myself and I am fairly confident I could take almost every hero to low masters. I don’t consider myself particularly good at many things, including aiming, my hero pool could be better, I very often misplay my cooldowns and have many bad habits.
Secondly, no, you’re wrong, only because you got a lucky win streak, it doesn’t mean that healbot Mercy is a viable playstyle. It’s throwing and the main reason A LOT of diamond Mercys are diamond is that they panic when they see tanks missing HP and start pocketing them, as a rule of thumb it’s better to heal tanks slightly not enough than slightly too much as Mercy.
Also, videogames are inherently 1-dimensional, not sure how you can call my views “one-dimensional”. Rein is 1 dimensional melee hero, Tracer is 1 dimensional perma sit on the flank, almost like videogames are inherently repetitive and thus 1 dimensional… That’s some Mercymain wisdom right there.
