we are in a 5v5 because tank players felt helpless and no one wanted to play tank at all. Shields are there to protect from damage incoming (Esp long range ones like the snipers). shields didn’t lead to 5v5. tank helplessness (by blizz’s design of them) did

Nah she will be fine. She 's got so much going for her right now that she doesn’t need her own personal discord as well.
It wasn’t even Pro’s that made the most noise. The community at large didn’t like how oppressive she can be and she literally dominates almost every 1v1 interaction which completely ruins the idea of taking off angles and flanking. A flanker that counters flanking with raw damage on top of the rest of her kit it bonkers.
The sweet spot for such things should be zero. T4 didn’t reduce flahsbang duration, they replaced it, same as Bash and Freeze,
However, silence remains and will anchor down Sombra to the bottom same as it did in OW1.
But there are people who complain about shields.
Thing is, someone hating on something is not a reason for balance changes. Numbers should be a reason for balance changes. Sombra had 5 sec silence in OW1 and it didn’t get her in OP state, she had at some point even negative winrate.
Right now she has much shorter silence. The only problem is chain-hacking, which can be solved easily without other nerfs. Damage can be adjusted, not gutted like that.
After OW1 they severely nerfed silence duration and buffed her damage. Now they gut her damage almost back to OW1 level AND gut her silence ever further. So, what exactly is her role at all now? Annoying mosquito?

from my perspective she’s already junk.
Same as it is now, just without the silence.
Hack could give “only” damage buff, wall hack for self and team mates, disable chaneled abitlies and it would still be pretty impactful without any silence at all.
But as it stands right now, Sombra will just be what she was in OW1, needing to setup to do what Soldier can do by pressing M1. Silence will keep Sombea below average.

Whoever thought up the current iteration of Sombra needs to be put into a different department, game design isn’t their strong suit.
So you’re telling me Sombra should be nerfed, without any buffs, and that will make her stronger somehow. Why do I even bother.
Not enough. By your own logic if something has no place in low CC FPS - there should be zero of it. Remove all shields! They hold tanks down!
I didn’t mention a single number change but the design of the ability itself. Could give Sombra 200 DPS or whatever.

I almost feel bad for sombra mains except the last week of me playing ball is an instant sombra swap after one death where I’m forced to not even consider playing a tank I enjoy because one hero who already countered me decently now completely forced me off

Where? You aren’t looking at overbuff are you? They have a BIG notice telling you that they do not work with OW2. Did you not read it? Did sombra change in any way between OW1 and OW2 that might change her stats? Hmm…
There are 2 aspects to a hero balance. Are they OP and are they sucking the fun out of the game by their design.
In OW1 heroes like sombra, bastion (low elo), symm, mei and a small number of others basically sucked the fun out of games. They were deliberately balanced so that they were playable on some maps (sometimes OP on certain maps) but not generally playable so they didn’t appear in too many games. If their pick-rates went up lots of complaining ensued (mei for example was always complained about when too viable) until they got nerfed back to a lower pick rate. They are badly designed heroes because they ruin games just by being present (hello widow!).
In OW2 sombra is now both OP and unfun. The basis of her design is unfun for those playing against her (and often those playing on her team). She needs to be nerfed back to where she was in OW1 where she was viable in some team comps but generally had a low pick rate. She was not unplayable but was hard to get good value from without team followup.
In OW2 she is destroying the fun of supports, and that role is the one that needs to be more fun. She needs nerfs not just to make her not be OP, but to lower her pick rate to the bottom half of the DPS roster to ensure she does not suck too much fun out of the games she is in.
So can you at least finally confirm that damn role? Sombra without hack is basically assassin. So, should her role be assassin?
