Sombra needs to be fixed

I disagree. They already put way the hell more un fair things in this game, might as well layer em on if we’re not allowed to rework any other part of Sombras kit.

Not on the forums lol. This is literally the complaint hole. I have plenty of heroes I enjoy playing against/dying to bc unlike a lot of yall, I wouldn’t play a game where everyone sucks to die to.

And I know you don’t care, but the devs have to care. If the crying on the forum is indicative of how people feel playing into Sombra, then it’s the devs job to make the game fun for the most amount of people. If that’s another rework then so be it.

Hey, I know how you feel. I mained mercy for a very long time and still like playing her. The amount of crapping on she gets is colossal even when she’s in a weak state, and it’s to the point where Mercy continuously gets bad changes that make her worse for everyone.

That doesn’t mean we never rework mercy again and just accept her current state as as good as it’ll ever be. Doesn’t mean that there isn’t some truth to her being annoying to engage with (there are over 40 heroes in the game, and a lot of people only play like, 3 of them. Perspectives on what is fun or not to engange with will vary).

If you’re sick of seeing Sombra complaints, the only thing I can offer you that helped me in the past is to stop clicking on the threads.

As main Mercy i love when sombra awaits me outside spawn point, so many great duels…

I’m lowkey afraid of Mercys that know how to take out the glock. Suddenly, I’m thinking “Wait…how is this about to go down?”

you guys should be glad they never gave reinhardt invisibility, now that would be nightmare fuel.

that made me think, what if for april fools they had a game mode where everyone had invisibility?

Overconfidence is a flimsy shield –

team will realize after 1 kill if you actually COMMUNICATE

and idk counterpick sombra, go kiriko/moira X)

I remember seeing one of the bigger streamers (either Jay3 or Flats) where the heroes had randomized abilities. Flats got Reinhardt with Invisibility and it was disgusting.

Hack should have a longer cast time when sombra is invis. As a longtime sombra player myself i have been saying it since her original ow2 rework

Before she was able to hack during invis, the counterplay to stopping her hack was listening out for her decloak voiceline so you knew when she was nearby. Ever since she could hack during invis she has had all counterplay removed from the ability. It is impossible to react fast enough when you dont even know where she is

Doubling the hack cast time from 0.65 to 1.3 when she is invis gives people double the reaction time to turn around and interrupt her

Then that adds a level of choice and decision for the sombra player. She can get the faster hack speed but has to decloak and alert her enemies to her location in order to do so. She can instead take the less risky approach and hack while invis but be aware that the enemy have a longer window in which to interrupt her before her hack completes.

I’ve already mentioned communicating with the team doesn’t always work, and a good Sombra will know that. Why should Sombra be able to bully the enemy spawn and the only solution is to hope your team notices so they can escort the support?

Tell me, how many people do you think would give me a like if I sad Bap makes the game a miserable slog?

Again, they will never add in a global wall hack, only from the enemy spawn, and only for Sombra. The suggestion is aggressively unhinged! I don’t know if that specific idea itself, genuinely asking for it, or implying it might actually happen is the crazier take. I’ll say with a 99.99+% confidence level that they will never put something like what you asked for, for a specific single hero in the game. I’ve been spawn camped by a Zen before (which is kind of interesting because he’s silent), but that doesn’t mean I’d ever ask for a Zen-specific wallhack by the spawn door.

You’re allowed to rework Sombra’s kit. It’s been majorly reworked maybe three times since launch. But, like, what would make her less frustrating for complainers without dumpstering her (which she has already been, multiple times before)? As I keep saying, it comes down to making her more annoying like Tracer, or more annoying like Mei. 6s Hack in OW1 was prohibitive. I personally hated it. Now we have 1s Hack and a ‘skill shot’ people asked for (that was the previous frustration point). Now people are still complaining. So to the complainers, I want to know where you want her power allocated? I never saw even one Sombra player on here ask for infinite Stealth, but the dev team put that in, anyway. Sombra players didn’t ask for Translocator changes, devs put that in because people complained she got away too easy (despite not realizing her downtime when doing that was insane/often game-losing). Even if you time Stealth, most Sombra players are at the point where they’d time it right and just murder you easier because the simplest thing to do with limited Stealth is to up her damage. So it wouldn’t solve your problem (despite it being asked for by non-Sombra players).

And to be very clear (and I’ve said many times now), I don’t main Sombra, I main BALL and I’m still here defending Sombra. I picked her up in OW1 to learn my matchup better and started getting better with her because she’s a high gamesense hero, like Ball. Personally I’d much prefer be able to play and get value on Junkrat or Mei, but they’re not allowed to be high-tier DPS. Sombra isn’t even one, she just doesn’t need teamwork to be able to feel like you’re getting value.

I mean we have to discern between venting/idle complaints, and people calling for legit changes. With Sombra it’s a lot of people venting while calling for some of the dumbest changes I’ve seen suggested (because they very obviously don’t play her, they just don’t like her, either).

From a dev perspective, where’s the win here? They’ve already changed her at least tice from the crying. The pain point is: I don’t like dying to Sombra because I think she’s skillless and cheap. Ok, so they made Hack last 1/6th of the time. They added a skill shot that misses ~40% of the time. They changed her Translocator so you can chase her down and kill her. Now, what, you want her to be seen from spawn for 12s, because that fixes… certain people who spawn camp in certain low ranks?

If I were a dev, I’d probably ignore the Sombra whining at this point considering she’s got a 45-59% winrate, and you people sound like you just want to complain to make yourselves feel better. If not the case, as I have asked before, how would you guys fix her?

I play Mercy and I enjoy it. I didn’t play that much comp but got her golden weapon. One of the best feelings for me in the entire game is getting that insanely risky Res off in front of people who have no business allowing you to do that in their face, to win the game/fight and it feels amazing.

Mercy has never lost her identity or core playstyle of beam lock, fly, lock, Res, (shoot). Yes, Mass Rez changed, but she still retained Res. Yes, her flight was made easier and then more janky, but you can still work around it. Yes, her beam strengths have been fiddled with, but you still attach and still beam heroes like you always had before. At the end of it all Mercy needs some minor buffs (revert her flight to appease us, at least), but she isn’t even that bad, so long as you quickly learn who to blue beam/Res.

By comparison, Sombra retained Hack, but it works very differently now with only a 1s lockout. Sombra’s stealth has been totally reworked, her gun numbers and spreads have changed a bunch (which, for a hitscan/tracking DPS player matters a lot). Translocator is completely different and all the muscle memory for setting and readjusting it is gone. Virus was a brand new projectile ability on a hero that never had one before. The only thing that’s relatively the same is EMP and hacking health packs (which is just objectively nerfed, now).

Which is why you need to take a huge grain of salt when listening to complaints. I’ve logged over 4k hrs in the game and haven’t 1-3 tricked heroes. To me, Sombra whining is just subjective whining from non-Sombra players who offer no help past, “Well I don’t like her, and I’m not having fun” while there are multiple and many tools they can use to easily shut her down. I’m just here pointing that out, or asking how you’d fix her while getting no useful answers in months.

If you’re sick of seeing Sombra in games and you come here to complain about her, I can be sick of seeing Sombra threads and can come there to complain about that. I’ll happily defend a hero that has already been in the dumpster jail for longer than Hog and by every single objective measure really doesn’t need another nerf.

If I’m being completely honest, these threads just push me (and likely others) to play her, more :smiling_imp:

At least I saw a thread on here the other day about how Sombra complaint threads were being deleted :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Going for gold in mental gymnastics, huh?

“The devs balance the game around team play” is a hypocritical statement to make when the complaint OP was making in the first place was about a solo Sombra tactic. That’s not team play. Sombra is an almost-exclusively solo hero. If you want to balance a game around team play, make Sombra more reliant on her own team members. EG: No invisibility unless she’s within X metres of a team member (allows team members to assist her by staggering their movement or teaming up withher, and prevents her from being an absurd nightmare in the scenario OP describes).

The timing sounds great on paper, but in practice, it’s a nightmare as a squishy healer. Hack is not a skill shot. It requires zero skill to hack an unaware enemy. By the time the enemy has turned around to defend themselves, Sombra has already taken down half of their health. At that point, Sombra almost always wins that gunfight, because she’s got twice as much health as they do. It’s ludicrous.

Using Soldier’s gun as the only example for “why Sombra isn’t actually all that powerful” is so stupid. Sure, his damage potential is better agaisnt a Sombra, but by the time he’s managed to spin around, half of his health is already gone. It’s hardly a fair fight.
Nevermind Soldier - staying on point: the type of Sombra play being complained about in this post is the healer spawncamping. IME the only healers that stand a chance against Sombra are Brig and Moira. Everyone else is a sitting duck.

“TEAMGAMEISTEAMGAME”
Ok, why play solo Sombra, then???

The problem is not invis, but the the fact that devs are rewarding mediocre gameplay with afk elims

Previous translocator took care of it, but now Sombra’s level of activity went off the roof because the average player is just too bad for the last iteration; so now every moron with low skill can turn any result, in any game

And we have to appreciate the irony here, because in the loneliest team based multiplayer game we have ever seen, the only way to Not die to a scrub, is to actually hope for your team to have eyes?

Priceless

Not to mention that the same moron can miss hack none stop and the ability will never enter its cooldown

The problem with her kit is a long list to be honest.
This all proves that developers are just a bunch of Bronze7 morons that don’t even play the game

Honestly, I haven’t had much issues with Sombra as a support in OW2, even after her rework. Oddly enough, I find her easier to deal with now than before. The only time I had some issue with Sombra was back in OW1, despite her being technically “weaker” and more of a troll pick back then.

But in low ranks, sombra being a troll pick didn’t matter. She was still too good at spawn camping the supports. Especially since supports had limited hero options back then (no kiriko to TP away).

Yes, we had baptiste, but his dueling potential was slightly weaker back then, his strength was mostly into his healing and immortality field. If the map happened to have a high ground that you could jump for safety close to spawn, then baptiste would’ve been the most obvious and safest option. Without high ground though, you still had to deal with annoying sombra going after you.

Ana was the second best option, but you were a sitting duck if you missed your sleep dart, and TTK was lower with 200HP.

Moira, Lucio, and Mercy were very weak against hack and would’ve been no help when trying to get out of spawn by themselves without their team’s help. Brig is only good at defending up close, sombra can easily hack and shoot from high ground or create distance to not get hit by brig’s flail.

why don’t we “fix” all the annoying heroes she counters before we “fix” her

noooo
solo players crying about sombra in a team game… again

The likes depend on how unfun the hero actually is to people’s experience.

Bap has enough haters, I don’t like his shift aoe burst healing specifically not him as a whole.

That said sombra will win any unpopularity contest by a mile and plus.

She is the only one who can make life unfun for 9 players at a time.

Bap atleast is making it good for his team.

Like this hero has a kit that simultaneously makes it unfun for casuals in qp and uncoordinated play while also being useless in most cases except coordinated dive for your team in ladder and also prevents the sombra from climbing herself.
