her hacks are her identity, without it she wouldnt be sombra, but they removed freeze from mei so. her hacks should be a projectile instead of the virus or combine the two abilities, teleporter like in ow1, invisibility with a timer and her ult should stop every single ult, im looking at you soldier

Ah, Sombra’s hack is so annoying, I can’t use my abilities, although I was too bad to prevent the hack!!!
Blizzard responded. -
Ah, her teleport is so annoying, I can’t kill her, and my ego tells me I must kill her!!!
Blizzard responded. -
Ah, her invisibility is so annoying, it forces me to use my brain to counter it!!!
Blizzard responded.
What do people expect? That every single ability Sombra has gets nerfed, even though none of them needed nerfs, without her getting buffs elsewhere? God, please, throw either some brains or an anvil at them!
I liked her previous iteration. She was far less annoying. Just revert her back to how she was two seasons ago
If 6v6 will be a thing then bring her OW1 kit back.
that would be fun actually, 5 second lockout hehe. i use to like seeing certain heroes flounder since they dont have their abilities
that was the troll aspect of sombra back then, not really good lethality but more of a troll hero
reworking her wont save this dying game
Sombra was one of the heroes i enjoyed the most. i do not enjoy the current one anymore. currently playing psylocke in marvel rivals has helped me fill the sombra void. i haven’t touched overwatch since and i regret every sombra skin i purchased and wish i could refund them. i bought skins for hero that does not exist in the game anymore.
i really liked the late ow1 version (sombra 2.0) but i also liked the first iteration of sombra in overwatch 2 w/o virus. she got real weak overtime tho and i guess that was the reason for the virus rework. she was pretty strong at first, the first season was the best. still i always play sombra regardless
Easy rework would be something like that:
Combine virus with hack so now in order to hack someone you gotta land a skillshot. buff hack duration to like 2 second maybe to compensate for that so that it feels more rewarding landing it.
make invis and translocator separate again, but if invisibility is limited in time, give us old translocator, if it’s the current insta teleport translocator, then give us back perma invis. it’s freaking insane how gutted she is with none of them. feels extremely garbage to play as
History suggests another rework will only make one or more of the problems people with her much more problematic. If not, then they’d probably nuke her in one form or another and no one would play her, resulting in ANOTHER rework.
But of course, if the former happens instead, I’ll gladly main her fully specifically to torment people.
I’m not against buffs to one of my favorite characters, but considering how over 90% of Sombra posts are saying to nerf her, this would accomplish the exact opposite.
Combining Hack into Virus would only make her stronger. The only downside would be that she CAN miss when it’s important (like Ana missing a sleep dart on Sigma ult for example), but combining the two would mean she has more time to start shooting you. And extending hack duration (I’m assuming you mean the ability lockout) would both contradict the reasons behind previous nerfs and give her a wider opening for her buffed damage.
Yes, her damage would go up since the time spent hacking then using virus would be as fast as just hitting with virus. And since her weapon ready speed is like 0.15 seconds, she’d probably be shooting you before the projectile even hits on top of her 20% bonus damage against a hacked target.
that’s the point of what i suggested. a buff. because she needs one. desperately.
either that, or just revert to previous version. there was nothing wrong with it.
Sombra is basically the best 1vs1 iteration of the entire game so far by miles.
The only way a Sombra can lose a 1vs1 its by getting interrupted by another player and missing Virus. (1vs2)
if those two escenarios doesn’t happen together she will use the undetectable free card and try again over and over from behind until success. Even if she is not killing anyone taking the whole attention of the supports it’s just a win.
I see her almost every game and since I main support a good Sombra can disable us both forcing us to never be able to pay attention to the Tank/DPS and end up always chasing her on the backline.
You’d have to have a lot of faith in the devs for that one.
Sombra was also absolutely overpowered in OW2 Season 1. The 40% damage buff was ridiculously high, and on top of that, hacking a target every 4 seconds for 1 second was extremely strong. Blizzard thought we would hack different players due to the low cooldown, but logically that wasn’t the case, so they reduced the damage buff to 20% and added an artificial cooldown by not allowing you to hack the same target again, which effectively killed Sombra. They then tried to further reduce the duration of the hack, but they eventually realized that was a bad idea.
Speaking of the 40% damage buff, back then, Sombra only dealt 7 damage per bullet. With the current version of Sombra, dealing 8 damage per bullet and a 20% damage buff, we deal almost the same damage as before. It’s only 0.2 damage less. So much for Sombra melting tanks!
And another fun fact: In Season 1, it was suggested that Sombra should only have 150 HP, like Tracer, because she dealt too much damage and could easily leave the fight. Of course, Blizzard made their usual premium move and didn’t listen, instead adding a strange artificial cooldown.
This hack + virus skillshot is a lie! I play a lot of Ana, and my accuracy with sleep is over 80%. Now imagine that with an invisible hero?! This skillshot would have very little to do with skill. Furthermore, a skillshot would remove the entire preparation. I would appear, throw the hack at you, and immediately start attacking with my SMG. Even if the virus damage were limited to just the impact or only the DoT, it would restrict the reaction possibilities of other players.
As for the duration of the hack, I’m actually quite excited about it because this is how Sombra should be, but anything under 3.5 seconds is pointless, as Sombra herself can’t make full use of the hack. Anything over 3.5 seconds would be unnecessary. This is a mathematical value that arises if you want to design the hack in a way that Sombra can fully use it without losing power.
This is simply a lie. A Sombra that only attacks constantly without keeping the supports occupied long enough has no value, and depending on the support, 2 hits are enough to force Sombra to retreat. 2 hits take less than 1 second, which isn’t enough time to keep one or both supports busy for long. Sure, there are moments where she strikes at just the right time so that the tank dies, but this is rather rare as it requires precise timing!
Additionally, part of your post highlights the damage issue that Sombra has caused since her virus rework. Sombra was never designed to kill others outright unless she hacked them first to bring them down to her own damage level. But since people don’t want a long hack duration, it has to be balanced somehow, and Blizzard can’t think of anything else but to mindlessly buff her damage in a ridiculous way!
She will always be considered annoying/frustrating/unbearable to a large part of the player base as long as she has invisibility in any form. Hack doesn’t do much any more other than interrupt way too many ults for free. It’s invisibility that will make every rework unacceptable to a large portion of the player base.
No matter how they rework it, people just don’t find invisibility fair.
The main issue is that none of the reworks so far have actually addressed players’ frustrations with Sombra. It’s the combination of stealth and hack and translocator and now burst damage out of stealth too that makes her frustrating. I don’t think she was OP in any of her iterations, but definitely endlessly obnoxious.
It doesn’t matter if I’m curbstomping her every time she shows up, I’m still going to be having zero fun whether I win or lose because an invisible mosquito keeps pestering me and cancelling my abilities over and over. I’m in favour of making her a support so that she has a reason to stop roaming in invis, and could maybe keep her debuffer/utility playstyle-ish. She’s going to get reworked another 10 times anyway.
Sombra is supposed to be a disruptor. Stealth and Hack and Translocator are all fine together as long as you dont give Sombra easy burst potential.
Of course, that is what Blizz did. Sombra is yet another victim of trying to make OW2/5v5/solotank work.
