apologies for the confusion, i wasn’t implying that her hack is overpowered at the moment. if it was, we would be seeing a lot more of sombra. i personally just think it’s the core strength that she holds and where 90% of her utility resides (besides EMP).
i do however believe that her entire kit at the moment has no middle ground besides being overly oppressive, or too weak, hence why she should have some abilities tweaked.
i lack the time on sombra to give any proper suggestions, but i know from the receiving end of how cruel she could be if blizzard doesn’t play it safe… which they have been by keeping her down. whether or not that’s right or wrong is subjective, but, i’d much rather avoid making any hero overpowered for any reason.
A decent amount of people who hate Sombra have not played her long enough to appreciate her difficulty.
She use to be even more difficult to use, as her translocator and stealth was on short time contraints before they deactivated and I personally had a blast with that challenge… but then they gave her way too good of a buff that ended up in them frantically nerfing her.
I understood what you said, I should just clarify that the second part of my reply was intented for the people that implied that hack is OP by nature. It wasn’t intended for you though, your response was pretty elaborate and clear. Written speech can confuse some times.
Again on your point; I believe that sombra’s kit is fine and doesn’t need any reworks. Her play style isn’t a feast or famine one, but a quite healthy one (at least based in my observation as an opponent).
There is a lot of space between a dominating sombra and a terrible one, and her kit leaves a room for counterplay and adaptation. For example as a rein, I try to play close to a wall when the other team has a sombra, for a safe retreat and mitigation of hack. As lucio, I try to predict her emp, and counterplaying it by staying away, ulting and speedboosting away my team. I like the fact that sombra challenges me to broaden my playstyle range, and gives options of counterplaying.
A good sombra is an active sombra, but this leaves her open to risk, and can be outplayed by the enemy. You always have a room to react with sombra, less or more, depending on your reliance on abilities and primary fire.
Sure, there are cases of shutting down some heroes like doom or Hammond, but sometimes you have to accept your counters (learned it early as a part junkrat main).
One more thing:
This one also wasn’t aimed for you, it was aimed for people who believe that only their mains are fun to play against (especially tracer mains), disregarding any other hero’s balance.
Sombra is underpowered as a one trick, I don’t understand people who try to force her into every game when she has no one to crippple with Hack - I mean if you are playing her vs Reaper/Mei or 2xSnipers and expexcting to see +40% winrate, that’s a problem in and of itself.
Actually you’re thinking of CC, such as Orisa Halt, or any Doomfist ability, boops and whatnot.
Sombra only takes away your button press abilities for a few seconds, you are still fully in control of your character (still moving, still shooting etc)
