So what are Hammond weakness?

Im guessing Reaper, Bastion, and Zen.

I was on PTR yesterday and i found a group of heros that really do well against him.

Sombra- makes him a very slow easy target to hit once hacked.
Zen- toss a discord on him and even a zen can burst him down with ease
Mei-when in ball form her slowing with her M1 causes some inconsistencies in his speed and if you put a wall in front of him you should be good.
Hog- by far the easiest hero to hook is wrecking ball. His hit box makes it a breeze to hook and roast him.
Reaper- nuff said just get a good drop on him since really wrecking ball is really a mid/close range hero.
mcree-flash and fan really is the route to go.
zarya- easy to get charge as well as track his character
orisa- just easy to hit
Junk-easy to bait into trap and double mine/spam

So pretty much the most commonly used heros counter Wrecking ball. When i was playing him he did not feel OP at all. He does have some good spots since i believe Koth will be good for him with his ability to spin around a ball and zone people/displace people. But he is not busted at all. His shield is nice but not great.

Hammond’s hit box is so huge even a silver player can’t miss a shot but a critical hit is a different story. He need Rein for not being a free ultimate charger.

Tanks do not really have stand in front of their team and soak up damage in this game. Hammond is played best if you go full ham on the enemy team. Jump right into them, use your shield and wreak havoc.

He will be a heavy disruptor and creates space the way D.Va and Winston did.

Along with Reaper, D.VA, Zarya, Junkrat, Widow, Torb, Doomfist and Sombra makes it easy for anyone to kill him.

Winston and DVA both had important defensive abilities that block incoming damage for them and their team.

One of which was heavily nerfed as a result.

And both had cooldowns on their mobility the jets and the leap have decent cooldowns.

Kinda early for you to be declaring he has no weaknesses don’t you think?

CC. I foresee Doomfist, Mei, McCree, Junkrat, and to an extent (if they’re with their team) Brigitte and Ana being good against him.

Hog, Bastion, Reaper and both snipers will decimate him, too, due to his massive hitbox.

He’s pretty weak.

I would think that he would be really weak against Reaper, Bastion, D.va, and Doomfist.

He does very little damage. Ball boops are 50dmg, piledriver is 100 if you land it right center, mostly it’s around 70-80 if you hit someone only his guns are decent damage with 15 dmg per 2 shots and a high fire rate.

And the ult does 130 dmg per mine.

He is mostly useful as distraction and displacement, and he can do decent burst damage.

Everything that slows or stuns is very useful against him (Mei Hog McCree Brigitte). And he’s really easy to hit, even when rolling fast because his movements are predictable. D.Va can do a ton of damage while keeping up with him for a while, Reaper has a decent match up too since his spread is circular he almost hits all pellets all the time (same for hog and torb).

Hamsterball is most dangerous in dive when you coordinate a pile driver with a Winston jump and you get a massive amount of HP behind enemy lines.

There’s a video that Dabacabb posted from LiJang Tower, I think it was the Control Center Map. The one with the pillar in the middle, he can keep rolling at “Top Speed” as long as his hook is on that Pillar. That kind of amused me because it’s probably the perfect map for it.

Ya me too! hog in my opinion had the highest ability to immobilize and deal damage to him. plus he can outlast hammond in a 1v1 since hog can heal himself.

xD thats the best! I do see a lot of wrecking balls finding places like that and exploiting the ability to be in wrecking ball mode.

His survivability is actually lower than other tanks. I understand that people are impressed with huge HP numbers when he uses shield but there devil in details:

  1. Huge numbers comes from summarizing his HP and shield HP. In that case you should also summarize it the same way for other tanks. So Winston will have 500HP+600Shield=1100HP in a very reliable way, while Hammond have 600HP+up to 700hp=1300HP if 6 enemies are near him. But there is other problem…

  2. Enemy detection radius is very short for his shield. Enemies should be really close to you for shield increase. So most of the time it will not count 6 enemies, but 1-3 of them, which means 200-400HP shield. Which is not so high as other tanks.

  3. And most importantly - his barriers is not an object barrier like other tanks have, it is a health barrier like Doomfist passive or Lucio’s Sound barrier. It means it does not protect him from CC or any other effects, it does not break a LoS so it cannot intercept some abilities and cannot over-absorb huge spikes of damage from various ultimates. It even does not protect from headshots.

He’s very weak to mei’s freeze because he has no response other then to run away, and he can’t burst Mei outside of like bowling into her and smashing into head shots which Mei has solid tools to work around.
