So unfortunate - Movement accel

Run and gun games can still have movement acceleration.

Quake I would say is very run and gun you dont camp in a corner it has tons of strafing across the maps ect and has run and gun.

And I would argue that OW isnt even really that fast pace compared to some movement acceleration games unless youre playing Tracer or Genji but even then theres characters in other games with higher movement speed.

Most of the playerbase dont even know what movement acceleration is and most of them play games with movement acceleration and with lite movement acceleration they literally wouldnt notice some OW characters have small movement acceleration either on the decel or accel but never on both.

Don’t understand your argument for this one in the slightest. These roles are inherently more impactful than dps already.

Perhaps its just a convincing point to convince whiny tank and support mains.

It genuinely is an improvement for every role and character though.

I don’t disagree because I’ve been a cs player for years at the high level, but I’m unsure if it fits overwatch. Worth a shot. I wouldn’t agree with the projectile sizes though, there’s a good reason they are the sizes they are and I think they’ve been fine tuned on many heros and for all different latencies. We don’t want a csgo situation where you can pull people back up to 200 entire milliseconds.

This has nothing to do with movement acceleration and everything to do with the changes to how SR is accrued in competitive obliging that one survive until the final handful of players to climb at any decent pace.

Yeah I know, but the point is the game play has still slowed. People flocked to OW at first being it was felt different and played pretty fast and large chunk of that was very responsive movement system. Plus lack of fall damage or needing to get ammo for weapons. It’s just all go go go.

Then OW also slowed down a bit due to CC and power creep, then the terrible double shield meta etc.

but you don’t just change the movement system of a billion dollar franchise just to change it. Everything about OW worked and worked great. Everyone was onboard until management drove the game into a ditch.

but I don’t see making drastic changes like the movement system when next to no one really complained about in the first place. Being most players aren’t 4.4k+ sort of OWL players bemoaning they missed a clutch widowmaker shot to a hitbox moving 6 pixels.

I did this change, it felt great instantly  - seriously, It was like getting aim super powers.

But I get what you mean

I know, but I’ve been gaming long enough to see even the slightest change to a movement system people have years into be enough to sink a game.

So I still maintain it makes no sense to change it for OW2 when OW1 and the current system was already a massive hit game on every single level. It’s all risk for little to no reward being there has never been a big push from the fan base to do anything to the movement system, ever.

it’s the CC, over reliance on shield and certain abilities the community has a problem with in game. None of that is solved with a movement shift either.

No one’s suggesting this be changed “just to change it”.

The reasons were given quite frankly and specifically: To reduce the jankiness of the ADAD and Crouch-Uncrouch spam and make usual FPS prediction skills (i.e., assuming a modicum of physics) a bit more applicable to OW.

They’re just ideas since people always say “Well what can we do if accuracy increases”

Im not suggesting any of these ideas except movement accel the rest are just ideas on how to balance it.

Because most players dont know what movement accel is nor do they care weather it is in or not in the game.

Most of the players who left OW went to valorant or apex and both games have it either that or they quit playing games completely which is the more unlikely option.

Movement accel would lower the need for CC.
