So this was the PvE we abandoned ow1 for?

it could’ve been an actual sequel instead of an update.
atnd a separate sequel will always be better because if it’s crap you can just not play it. Here i’m forced to play it.

Its also 100% irrational at this point. On Tuesday the maintenance finished about 45 minutes early. This is a good thing. When I mentioned that you could log in there were MULTIPLE people who were genuinely posting that they were upset Blizzard lied about maintenance times. That is not rational. That is not of sound mind. When that is the position some take, you cant take anything else they say seriously.

Which is funny because they cancelled even before Overwatch 2 launched. And they didn’t tell it for an entire year…

Give me a reason to.

The hate comes from the fact that no matter what happens, people will find any reason they can to complain.

Blizzard broke their promise, you actually think that the community would be tickled to death and overjoyed with the current vapid PvE offerings with just a sprinkle of move set differences?

I’ve seen 3 years of the absolute worst complaints about literally nothing constructive about this franchise at its prime, even more so in the total 7 years of the franchise’s existence, to base my assertion that even if the PvE was delivered in full the community would’ve moaned and whined regardless.

People have been saying this for 7 years.

It’s not, and it’s actually more disgusting at this point.

It is an actual sequel by every definition that has existed over the past 50 years of gaming OW2 is an actual sequel. I could break this down further but I refuse to believe you do not actually realize that.

Also, you are also not forced to play OW2. I have 1000 other games on my wall I could play if I did not want to play OW and I am sure you have several as well.

That is a good thing.

Some people don’t speak for the majority of “us,” I suppose.

That in of itself is a bad faith argument. It assumes that everyone is the same as that, therefore no individual among the crowd is of “sound mind” as you put it.

So don’t take them seriously…?

They sure as heck don’t speak for me.

Care to explain what’s so funny?

Except they weren’t doing that…they WERE continuously giving the game more updates…and the only reason the game stopped getting more updates was cause they had all of their team stop stop what they were doing so that they could make THIS game….

which as it turns out is the exact same game…so the ONLY reason we are where we are is because they wanted to make more money…because none of it went towards actually improving the game

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA its even funnier the second time

oh god please be baiting because i can’t believe you’re THAT brainwashed and delusional.
it’s LITERALLY just a content update, a relaunch at best. We didn’t even get a proper pve campaign that was meant to make it a sequel. Like, how are you so blind to what’s actually in front of you?

no one would be calling it a sequel if they hadn’t put a “2” in front of it, it changes so effin little. Is 3 more heroes and 6 more maps enough to call it a sequel? There are updated re-releases of fighting games that do more than overwatch “”“2"”" launched with.
even cod games are more of a sequel than overwatch 2 is.

They were because while the profits were going down every year (as was expected) it was still worth it to update the game. If the game made 1 billion year 1, 500 million year 2, and 300 million year 3, then it is still worth it to update but you can see that within a year or 2 you are going to either want to change something or shrink the team size.

The writing was clearly on the wall just as it was for every long running PvP game ever made. They basically had 3 options: let franchise die, force everyone to buy a “new” game at full price every 3 years, or go F2P. They elected to go with the 3rd option. There has never been an example of a paid PvP game that can sustain itself long term without one of those 3 happening.

Let’s face it, what we got this season is what the cancelled PvE would have looked like. The braindead enemies, the repeated pathing, the same spawn points, and so on. It wasn’t going to be something miraculously better. Why do you think they cancelled it? The extra work on the abilities? I suspect that was part of it, but they also realised what they had gameplay-wise was utter garbage.

Team4 is great at doing hero movement, models, etc. But they have always been bad at doing AI. The AI game mode has always been terrible. The previous events had terrible enemies. Invasion is no different. This is what they do for PvE. It isn’t getting better.

Correct, this is just a stripped down version of what we’d be getting otherwise. They took out the metagame/progression layer basically but the gameplay is the exact same it would have been.

Yea, I loved using all the talents and different builds on my fav heroes in the pve…

well, they specifically changed the engine to allow for better AI but they also obviously cancelled it because the board said “why are you wasting so much time on something that wouldn’t bring as much profit as skins? focus on that”.

and even with this they still lied by omission until they couldn’t, pretending what was promised was coming. They called the game “early access” waiting for the pve and still dangled this amazing new mode coming soon™ when they had cancelled it before the first beta even dropped.

judging how little pvp content there was the cancellation happened pretty late, so regardless they still wasted our collective time

Did you read the rest? Probably not looking at the spelling of your name. There might have been a big word in there

Adding abilities alone does not make a game replayable. It has to be fun to play and not have braindead enemies every time. That was 10 years ago that was acceptable. Even a game like B3 had enemies using cover, going round behind or beside you before attacking and so on. Not just standing there or walking slowly towards you shooing randomly. It is the definition of braindead pathing.

Adding hero abilities to invasion would still be invasion and people wouldn’t try to build 20 abilities by replaying that trash, or other levels like it, over and over. It needed a real PvE game behind it, and invasion is not even close.

Maybe you would know that you can only have 12 characters, not 13. Tho since we are going to petty insults, I am surprised you knew the word!

Or you can release an expansion like people had done before and reinvigorate the fan base……worked for many years

But again all that gets thrown out the window when the execs saw what games like Fortnite did….again it wasn’t out of need…they just wanted a piece of the pie…and didn’t care what meant for the actual game

yeah it’s really depressing, wish they would just give us back ow1

Now you’re just arguing for the sake of arguing.

The community is in the state it is in because Blizzard did nothing to address anything anyone was saying. Blizzard was too busy counting money or whatever to care.

The fact that a “mob” or “angry people” even exists is a testament to the truth of the matter.

Find me another group of people THIS upset at a gaming company. Go on.
Since you’re having trust issues, I’ll put my faith in you.

Otherwise, saying people will complain no matter what is a half-cooked take.
It goes without saying. Given enough time and individuals, you will find anyone who disagrees with anything.

The problem is the magnitude of people saying the exact same things.
And left unaddressed, the problem will reach a breaking point.

This is that point.
