So my account was banned

I was banned back in October 2024 for cheating when I have never cheated in my life. I despise the thought of cheating and would absolutely be disappointed in my self for even thinking about it. I think that cheating is an abomination, and I think that all cheaters should be banned. Why me? I play Brig and Mercy and have no way of even cheating. I was Top500 when I got banned. I was live streaming at the time so there was no way I could have been cheating. Unfortunately the VODs were removed by twitch since it was past 30 days after the initial stream. I have no way now to prove that I wasn’t cheating besides a clip I saved to my computer to send to blizzard to show I was in fact not cheating and just playing the game normally. Blizzard support has told me countless times that they will not review my requests anymore and are basically not giving me a reason as to why or what caused the ban. I’m at a complete loss since I’ve had that account since launch of the game. Can someone shed some light to help me understand why I was banned?

Streaming doesn’t prove a person isn’t cheating, though. Maybe macros, duo’ing with a cheater, a program on your PC triggering the anticheat etc.

Did the e-mail say it was for hacking?

It specifically said “Unauthorized cheat programs (“hacks”)”

I personally have nothing on my computer that would even trigger the action. So I don’t know what did it. I don’t have macros or duo with anyone so I don’t know.

welcome to the club.

This happened close to a year ago.
I don’t think the forum is the help you seek.

This sounds all too familiar unfortunately. Sounds like report abuse with no review or a false positive triggered by something. Why wait 7 months to say something? Just wondering.

what’s up cheater, having a bad day there buddy?

Ditto, happened to me twice. Mercy main who lost my main account for “cheating”. If enough people report you within a span of time, it bans you for cheating even if you’re completely innocent. and L1 support is likely an outsourced 3rd party contractor (possibly overseas/using a translator) so they don’t have any detailed logs to review or reason to care, so they send you form emails. I’ve made over 20 tickets and never got my account back, I only got this account back from a suspension because this time I was banned for “language” and they they had my chat logs so I asked them to tell me what I said and they saw I hadn’t done anything wrong so they overturned the ban, but they don’t have any logs for the cheating reports. Sorry for your loss.

Keep opening CS tickets until you get an actual human agent to respond. Have them audit the games where you were reported for cheating. More than a few perma-bans have been overturned after human review, but getting that human CS agent is the tricky part.

Just associating with a cheater, maybe the one you pocketed because they were performing better than the rest of the lobby and you decided to friend/group with them for more than 5 games, is enough to get you banned.
Like getting arrested for assisting a known Felon.

This is also why many high ranked teams intentionally draw once any cheater is positively identified in their games. No one wants to get banned by supporting active cheaters.
