So I'm getting a 144hz monitor

And I have a few questions:

  • How different is it? The quality, I mean.
  • I currently play Lucio. Should I start playing different characters to be able to improve more and carry harder in my games? If so, what characters?
  • With my second monitor, what are good uses for it? Like, what do I run on it so I can be more efficient (music, etc)

Thanks you to anybody that took the time to answer any of these, the monitor gets here by Friday! I can’t wait! I may post an update on it, if I see a change.

  1. Extremely. You will notice the difference instantly. It’s super nice.

  2. The new monitor shouldn’t really impact who you enjoy playing. It makes the general experience nicer, but it’s helpful for every hero.

  3. I can’t speak to this personally, but my friend has Spotify on his second monitor when he plays games.

Once you have it, you can never go back.

My new Com has a 144hz screen, it’s amazing. But my monitor is slower so I’m sad :frowning:

Thank you! Quick question for the second one. I heard there’s a large improvement for tracking since everything is so much smoother. Is this true? For example, would Zarya, Sombra, and Soldier see better tracking (given that you practice of course) with a 144hz monitor?

It definitely feels better with those heroes…there should be small improvements made but they could vary between negligible or huge. I didn’t notice much of a difference in tracking, for instance, but some people I know did.

  1. The difference is beyond explainable.
  2. Doesn’t matter, I saw a large increase in my ability to aim well, but it doesn’t matter, just enjoy the beauty of the monitor.
  3. I use my second monitor for discord, Spotify, and web browser.

I never actually had those monitors, but I can go into the science on why it works.

Hz is how many times your monitor refreshes, so more would obviously be better.

It doesn’t seem like it would be significantly better at first, but when your competing for every single millisecond in OW, it’s noticeable.

You know the most effed up part?
When you switch back to 60hz (for say…a PS4 game), your eyes and brain will hurt. Headache inbound. Literally. Warning issued.

Make sure to change your resolution since it’s tied to framerate. So like when you first start it up your in-game resolution will say 1920x1080(60), you gotta manually change it. I was so confused as to why it still felt the same at first lmfao
