I was going to say something in favor of bewbs, but looking at that first Jaina image, the design was not very good. There was basically only her vest covering her boobs, which were out of her corset-thingy, apparently.

Iā€™m ok with this change since the design was ridiculous.

Yeah it has always amazed me that a family friendly company like Blizzard went with the BAMF logo in the first place xD

But I guess double entendres and such are a way of keeping shows family friendly.

Blizz changed it far too quickly for that to be the case. I think it was changed in like 3 days of the original post? A week? Far too soon, especially just for a thread on the forums. Blizzā€™s statement on it was just to get brownie points.

Both of them showing her butt, the first one looks like she showed it off on purpose, while the second one looks like sheā€™s having fun - aka more in her character.

For example, big butt and showing off cleavage is Widowmakerā€™s theme, so nobody said anything about it since sheā€™s supposed to be a femme fatale.

Bliz changed a characterā€™s butt to fit their personality.
Everyone else: ā€œSJW!!ā€

Widow is designed around the ā€˜femme fataleā€™ archetype and she doesnā€™t have much in the bust department anyway.

As for that Jaina card, it looks like she has nothing under her little shirt there, which is probably why it was changed for China apparently. Desensitized people like to cry about crap like this when they already live in a hypersexualized world. Itā€™s not that bad either way although it doesnā€™t really blend well with the rest of that corset.

Thatā€™s probably because any hint to the afterlife (including zombies) is illegal in China. In the Chinese WoW client, all Undeads even have their typical Undead features covered or removed for the same reason.

But Jainaā€™s cleavage? There are Chinese MMOs out there with statues of naked women withā€¦ ahemā€¦ ample bosoms.

Jainaā€™s art now looks like any other Jaina art where sheā€™s portrayed wearing this outfit. The Hearthstone one lookedā€¦ weird. So, itā€™s fine.

Whenever I stumble over something like this I cannot help but wonder how do these people, who initiate such ā€˜moralā€™ fixes to Tracerā€™s or Jainaā€™s designs, feel in, say, Romeā€™s historical centre? Or in Louvre or any other museum rich with ancient Greek/Roman exhibits?
Do they shut their eyes and run fast through those halls? Or do they throw tantrums and demand the administration to change the statuesā€™ poses and cover it all up? /s x)

Seeing how animation treats female characters these days ( One Piece for example ), it makes me wonder why and how censoring exists.

It must be for the Chinese and US crowd, I cannot find another answer.
