“so we made this new open queue experimental mode where if you have only 1 of that person in a role, they receive a buff!”
“Cool.”
“oh also you cant switch between roles once people locked in sorry :)”
Okay so its not open queue at all anymore then. Why couldnt they just make the passive swap on the spot to whoever is the currently only person in that role?
They talked about it in the Spilo interview. In testing, they would have situations where a character would suddenly change in strength mid-fight. Not only was that confusing and annoying, but also exploitable (example: if both sides were down players in a teamfight, one side could swap giving one of the remaining players in the teamfight a sudden buff).
Honestly I don’t really see the point of the game mode either. It’s trying something new, but at the cost of breaking what I consider to be one of the fundamental pillars of gameplay. It could be that they are just tiding us over as they prepare 6v6. And if that’s the case I’m ok with it.
Apparently you can switch in between rounds for King of the Hill. What’s the point? Idk. But it’s not technically role lock, I guess.
It’s not open either, obviously.
It’s just… Kingslayer.
