nope, microsoft says other wise. They want you to be able to play a game on multiple accounts. They dont care about overwatch smurfs
God I just want portal 3
Well duh state the obvious
I suppose we should allow smurfs being that they are pathetic losers who need the boost in there life or the might do themselves some self harm actually wait a minute nah iâd rather they actually didnât smurf
Well it definitely isnt valve lol
Throwing matches to lower your MMR is already bannable in OW. So what does Valve do that Blizzard doesnât in this case?
If you expect them to detect when brand new accounts are smurfing by just relying on poor matchmaker confidence rather than actively throwing, then I have bad news for you; Valve isnât going to do anything about that either. Because they canât.
Lizard/Novision ainât valve tho.
Fact: Smurfing brings in money.
Fact: Hunting smurf accounts is biased.
Fact: Smurfers come home to relax and enjoy the game their way.
Fact: A good smurf that arrives can only make my game play improve.
Bring it on smurfâŚbring it on.
All they need to do is prevent in game cheating.
Speculation to consider
Smurfers may be ashamed of âflashyâ avatar borders.
They may like to hide their play time behind low level avatar borders.
Some players may not like to show how much time they spend playing the game.
suddenly smurf is no longer a problem according to the answers in this topic.
thatâs cause those games are free.
Thatâs why Valve employed a tactic of allowing well-known, truthful players to help assist with the banning of smurfs. Hundreds of these players would review one person and if a large majority of the people agree that they were smurfing, then the smurf would be banned. If one of those trusted players started to get it wrong more often or were purposely aiding smurfs for whatever reason, they would be removed from the assist list and would no longer review other playerâs gameplay. Lastly, as @Cocosflingor said,
Valve has a successful game that they canât afford to ruin. It isnât worth the effort for blizzard
would be cool if they are successful than that would mean other companies will follow suit and try to do the same. wish them luck but still seems like a tall order especially with a huge playerbase
2 big issues here.
- can you identify what a smurf account is with 100% accuracy.
- do you have data, and statements from Valve that it is having a net positive effect over a long period of time?
True, Overwatch is definitely not a successful IP⌠(sarcasm).
i want more portal and all, but at the same time the ending was satisfying, they wrapped it up in a little bow before leaving it to die (unlike half life)
and i mean, co-op is kinda the portal 3 (tho i think its shorter then its singleplayer counterpart), it takes place after chell escapes and has all the same mechanics, sadly i have no friends to play it with lol.
i just want wheatley to come back from outer space
oh wait thats a spoiler
Nobody can determine a smurf account with 100 percent accuracy which is why taking into account that hundreds of people will be reviewing will significantly decrease the chances of a non-smurf account being banned, and if they are banned, they can of course follow an appeal process which is already in overwatch. To tell you shortly, I donât have any data that this is working or not as it came into effect just recently for Valve, but you can check out this âBlame the Controllerâ video to learn more about it: Overwatch - Smurfing is Finally Bannable! ... wrong game - YouTube
Blizzard made pretty clear they are not gonna invest more then life support on Overwatch1 anymore. Spare your spits and air for, idk, Overwatch2 ?
Btw, i feel your pain since i sit in the same boat, like 90% of the community.
- I play low-level CSGO frequently. I can confidently say valve has NOT solved the smurfing problem.
- The OW team has already stated they donât consider smurfing to be an issue in this game.
This is also why I believe they allow multiboxing in WoW so much. More money.
Thats how capitalism works tho
