Smurfing - If Valve can do it

Blizzard hello
Valve is also cracking down on smurf accounts (when an experienced player creates a new account to place themselves in easier matches). Valve will focus on new accounts created after today, in which it has “high confidence in their smurfing and game-ruining behaviour”. But it will occasionally manually ban older accounts that are “clearly game-ruining”. Anyone selling accounts, boosting or otherwise trying to ruin games will also get a primary account ban. And for cases where Valve isn’t quite 100 per cent sure it’s a smurf account, those players will be placed into a pool of other suspected smurfs until a decision can be made.

You guys really need to stop comparing other companies to each other it’s not going to change anything.

Yeah, how dare you compare activision blizzard to valve, only one of them cares about the games they make.

I hate smurfing and how tolerated it is. But that being said, dota is free to play and overwatch isn’t.

Valve benefits from stopping it while Activision benefits from allowing it

Why not…? 0_o

Oh it’s easy to see why they’d allow it. Just a shame that they want the money more than a good player experience, but I guess why would they ever care about something that might make them less money if they’re making more money by not doing it…

seems impossible if that games has millions of users, i mean they may ban a few players here or there but thousands of others will still smurf? no way they can ban all smurfs

i’d be surprised if they did and you think they would have to have a huge staff-base to do that or a really good ai algorithm to do the work for them?

They can easily isolate new accounts from the main playerbase, and then see how they play against other low levels. Would be pretty easy to see who is smurfing, unless they purposefully play like crap to hide it, then get them with the ban hammer when they switch back to playing for real and their MMR skyrockets

Welp, people compare it to statement of valve so far, but did they done anything about it or just said they will?

you cant say valve has done it until they actually do it, if blizzard just said all of a sudden that smurfs are banned would you just believe them? youve got to wait and see from their community if it works or not

Its easy money for Blizzard
Oh you wanna buy a smurf? Go for it
Oh a smurf is ruining your expierience? Who cares buy one aswell lmao give us money

Are they? Is this a dota only thing because smurfing was straight busted in CSGO since you can solo carry.

There Aren’t Any smurfs though maybe 1/20 matches.

Eh, Valve abandoned most of the games they ever made except for CSGO and DOTA.

Now, they don’t make games lol and despite steam being their main thing… have you ever tried playing Left 4 Dead on it? You get people forcing themselves into your active game and insta-killing you while loudly playing soundboards over the mic… Valve can go stub their big toe on the thiccest chair leg.

Not on console they don’t they need to implement something to stop it

As far as xbox goes it should be one account per xbox live account

Why should my comp games be affected by someone who is so pathetic they need to boost there fragile ego by smurfing or someone who doesnt care whether the win or not because it is there second account

If i bought a Master or GM account then played in those games that account would be banned for ruining those games but if someone starts a new account throws to get to play or below they are allowed to continue ruining my games

Whats the difference?

no you wouldnt, it happens a lot and they just fall back down, then buy another one

Playstation and Xbox both say you can make as many accounts as you want and there is nothing blizzard can do about it.

They want you to be able to play the same game on multiple accounts, smurfs in overwatch are not a priority
