Smurf city or what?

Ok “Brett” - so where would you rate <500 in terms of vs. ai. Is it harder/easier to 1v1, 2v2, etc. the bots (and at what diff). Please help because even with eyes plugged in I can’t beat ai.ez so cleary 550sr is out of the picture.

It’s really not dead. Still plenty of people playing. Tank & Support Competitive queue times are still relatively quick.

But you’re right that it’s not fun to play any more and that Blizzard aren’t doing anything about the smurf problem that they caused in the first place.

So?

Doesn’t mean one should cheat just to get a game.

Well open q suck big time and ranks there are all over the place so it might be the case.

its not an excuse, its an explanation

They’re making excuses to justify their cheating.

okay, so how do you fix the problem? by trying to ban people that don’t really have a problem with buying alt accounts, or tackling the root cause of the issue - queue times?

They need to make it so that players can only have the one account and then merge all of a given existing player’s accounts together.

Low Bronze 0-500 is a mess. Bronze is really 3 ranks simplified into one. Having been at the bottom years ago all I can say is climbing out of Bronze is twofold:
1: Self Reliance: Your teammates cannot be counted on to do anything. Play a hero with sustain like Roadhog/Moira/Reaper or even shields because healing is rare and know the health packs.
2: Play the Objective: It isn’t Death Match so stick to point if you have. Extending will fail down there way too often.
3: Shoot the Same Targets: You have bad aim. I have bad aim. They have bad aim. Two bad aims shooting the same target beat one bad aim. Find who another is shooting (ideally near the objective) and shoot who they shoot.

Those three tips got me from the 600s to at least Silver but as you improve what works v doesn’t changes. A good example is Rein. Suicidal aggression works really low down but it has a limit. Folks learn to shoot the guy charging them or sidestep not just die. Your swing and Fire Strike become more important then. What works at one level won’t at another but rudimentary teamwork by even pairing with another worked wonders for me.

Tbh, shooting the same target that your teammates are shooting at does not only work in Bronze, but in all other ranks as well, and acquiring the ability to recognize who is shooting at whom is a big thing. The difference between Gold and Bronze is not as big as you think. The same thing that tilted you in Bronze will tilt you in Gold as well, do not get fooled.

The only difference being, people do shoot better, have better aim, supports will sometimes stick to cover, you will see a Rein or two using cover as well, or Zarya predicting a life saving bubble.

However, do not think that in Gold you will never see a frontlining Zenyatta, your team going into small corridors where the enemy Junk is spamming just for them to keep dying over and over again and blame the rest of your team for it. Suicidal Reins etc.

Gold is not that much better, only slightly better. You just concentrate on yourself and keep up the good work.

That goes for all ranks below masters.

People just get better mechanically. And to be fair, killing stuff fast is the key to success.

Everything else stays the same, because it’s mostly not a skill-problem, but a personality problem.

I’ve been Gold for a while. Huh? I’m creeping towards Plat these days. (My profile is public.) The Silver bit was saying that once there I had to adjust playstyle to climb. I figured I’d give actual advice on the forums to change up the experience.

As for Gold and Bronze… I see night and day difference between the two. I think it’s a matter of proximity to that skill level noticing smaller changes. More familiarity to the specifics lets us see smaller differences. I genuinely cannot see a definitive difference between Masters/GM/Top 500 but again those there would know them better.

(Reposted cus I did not reply to LichQueen properly first time. Sorry OP)

I apologize, I did not look at your profile and I also apologize if I sounded condescending in any way, I just found myself in your post and wanted to add my own experience. That’s all.

Oh, you’re fine. I appreciate the kind words regardless and was just saying what one notices differences on is a matter of perspective. At least it seems that way in my experience with other skills as well not just Overwatch.

I love people with this mentality. “Yeah it must be us and not the throwers, leavers, trolls, dps heals, 2 solo dive tanks, etc. that is keeping us back and we just magically lost all skill overnight going from high plat/low diamond consistently to now silver/gold and can’t get back out due to the reasons I gave.”

I wonder, what if for example you get wrecked or spawncamped by an enemy who is not smurfing but is actually in your elo? Would you still complain about it? Would you open a topic about it? Would you open a topic about your losing streaks because your teammates are bad and you cannot get a single win because the Diamond Tracer kept owning you in your Diamond game?

Is it ok for you to get owned by an enemy who is not smurfing and is your SR but it is not ok if the same thing happens by the enemy who is not your SR and is smurfing?

What game do you play? Must not be overwatch. In this game there are like 4-6 smurfs per conpetitive match.

If you really were high plat/low diamond, you really wouldn’t be having this problem unless you had a medical issue holding you back as I do, I have nerve damage in both hands, tendonitis in my right arm, and I still manage to play in gold, and hold my own. What’s your excuse other than “smurfs and throwers”? They aren’t in every game, you simply just need to get better. I fell from Masters, due to medical, I can’t climb because of medical, that’s on me, not my team, nor the enemy players.

Are you two kidding me? I play Overwatch in Silver/Gold rank, I don’t see 1 person holding back 6 people alone, sure sometimes you get horribly outplayed, IT HAPPENS, both of you, get better, and stop blaming the other people on your team, mute me again, I dont care, I simply wish I was ignorant enough to blame other players for MY OWN LACK OF SKILL.

Get real and improve. trolls.
