I think decreasing the number of projectiles from 5 to 3 would work. I find it to work good as a replacement to the hold-arrow-charge-while-climbing. You activate storm arrows, climb up to highground and surprise twoshot the person up there. For that purpose and as a finishing tool for heroes over 250 hp it would remain the same. While decreasing its tank bursting potential.
Of course I would expect some compensation buffs, like reverting the draw speed nerf, reverting his health nerf, maybe revert the dragonstrike speed change and instead give it a bit higher damage, or a slight decrease to the lunge cooldown.
agreed. after the introduction of COD tactical sprint, switching to ow is prehistoric. ow turtle walk is far too slow, in 2024, to even be intrigued to want to play it. increase movement speed to increase player base.
I wouldn’t be suprised if in metal ranks 50 to 70 percent of kills Hanzo gets are from this ability. That’s why it should be nerfed. Everything else about him is trash because this ability is the only consistency he has
The game is too fast for this, too much mobility, no movement acceleration, every other hero also spams just as much as Hanzo.
Pretending Hanzo has to be this meticulous hero that waits for perfect shots in a game where you have heroes diving at you with the press of a button that can delete you without even having to aim as well as he does will not work.
If you didn’t realize that widow’s primary has also been buffed since season 8. Compared to season 8, she got 0.05 hitbox + range buff. Her current range to oneshot 250 health hreoes is even further than the range she could oneshot 200 health heroes in season 8. While hanzo’s primary compared to season 8 is just nerf.
To buff hanzo’s primary in the same manner as widow got in season 9, it will be the old charge time with bigger hitbox like 0.15m radius + something to improve his effective at range like faster arrow. Not to mention hanzo’s primary is never as powerful as widow’s, so you have to buff it even more on top of that.
If hanzo’s primary got those buffs, sure, get rid of storm arrow, who cares about storm arrow if I can have larger and faster arrow with quicker charge time. But based on your previous comments on hanzo, you’re going to complain regardless, right?

so you need to play hanzo like a hitscan while your arrow get travel time. that is ridiculous

And as I pointed out in other threads, literally everyone else is stronger in most if not every way compared to their pre-season 9 states. Hanzo is the only exception on that list. Let me clarify, his only advantages would make ZERO difference if you were to put current Hanzo against the S8 version.
OHKs fewer characters compared to S9 and NEEDS a full charge to kill the average character where as before, he could get away with like 80-90% or so.
Slower charge/ longer periods of reduced movement.
Lost half his projectile size compared to S9.
Ult travels faster, meaning less area denial and damage.
And all he got in exchange was a damage REVERT that proportionally leaves him doing less damage than before S9 thanks to the blanket HP buffs, and 25 extra HP for himself, which thanks to everyone having their bullet/ projectile sizes increased from anywhere to 0.05 to 0.35 on the high end I think, makes him even easier to kill.
As for his buff to Storm in S9, that was just to keep it’s 2 shot potential against 250-300hp. It’s no deadlier than it was before, especially when you consider the fact everyone got different HP buffs based on how much they had. Then came armor and other tank buffs later. It’s fine how it is since it’s so easy to waste and it requires 40% crit to 80% body accuracy to kill such players, all on a character that players miss on average 70-80% of their shots with. Potential means nothing if you can’t realistically expect even the best to do it.
They obviously want him as a sniper, so he should be able to consistently do so. So… Where’s his 50% arrow speed buff?
You also forgot that they removed his wallclimb charge.
Pretty sure one of the devs have a hate b@ner for Hanzo, they removed something that makes his gameplay flow better, justifying it as reducing burst damage but then the next patch, season 9 hits removing Hanzo’s 1-shot completely.
Then we have received a bunch more changes that are veiled “buffs” but end up being net nerfs.
yes he isn’t but you have to give him a set effective range. hanzo is effective at close and medium range, and is actually good at contesting snipers at long range like widow, ana, and ashe. those situations matter a lot.
season 8 hanzo was always problematic and i maintain that because of his storm arrow. their reluctance to nerf that ability and push him into the marksman role, and instead relegate him to a spam hero killed the hero
he should have a weakness to getting dived, and he should be reliant on landing the one shot. kinda like widow. the failsafe of storm arrows should exist but they shouldn’t be this strong which is all i’m saying
