Skill gap compression is killing this game

….when you knew good and well that new maps and heroes would be added to the game? Why would you pretend that Overwatch is a static game rather than a dynamic one?

I actually believe this is exactly what happened. Her design is so delicate in terms of Mobility vs. Damage that any change to the hero destroys her or makes her too strong. The only way to tone her down is to make heroes that can tone her down. The only problem is that the anti-mobility hero that they made destroys the mobility of super mobile heroes… and literally eliminates the less mobile heroes.

Their whole design policy is make heroes for all age and skill levels. The amount of work you put into the game doesnt matter. A new hero will come in to negate your skill w/ a single ability.

I can understand the OP idea. Gengi/tracer are really annoying but you have to manage your CDs or they are really useless once they can no longer out maneuver you.

But then you have brig who doesn’t have to worry about any CDs at all and your impact is still just as high.

Life is never fair. Even in games. Deal with it.

Because team building and synergy in itself is a skill?

I am not quite sure what your argument is here with all due respect.

my argument is that if we are individually assessed and given a number that shows how good we are vs the rest of the world yet that doesnt reflect any skill of any said heroes because they are low skill, then why have a competitive number/ladder to begin with?

Because if the argument is that low skill heroes that absolutely counter an entire meta without much skill on the users part, being that “the game isnt based upon skill” then why have individual sr ratings at all? Your brig play is probably within 5-10% of a top 500 brig play, yet your rated 2000 points or more lower when there is a very small difference between the two? seems counter intuitive to me.

Picking the correct hero at any one time in itself is a “skill”.

It annoys me how entitled tracer + genji mains are when it comes to brig.

If I play pharah and am getting destroyed by hitscan and can’t play around it I swap. You just need to learn to do the same. I get you feel like the stun etc is too easy but really just shoot from range and you’ll be fine.

Tracers drop off doesn’t happen till 10m and brig certainly can’t bash that far!

I don’t think counters is the issue. I think it is that heroes that are extremely easy to learn and play hard counter heroes that are very hard to get good with. I am not a game developer so I do not know what blizzard’s reasoning is for this. But people have stopped playing because of this and I am sure some have started playing as well because they can pick an ez hero and climb.
