Show Off Your Playstyle with the New Player Progression System

Looking good. Reminds me of Titanfall 2 and Guilty Gear trainings.

Wait… do people actually share their overwatch stats with friends and on their social media…? That’s a thing that actually happens enough to justify features for it?

People rank shame all the time. Might as well look good when people troll me.

We can’t, you didn’t care enough to take into account, already played hours so all of it’s at zero.

There needs to be better balance between the sub badge lvl up requirements between the different heroes. As mercy, dmg boosting 1600 can be easily done in 1 game and even several times in 1 game, whereas other heroes like doom, the easiest badge is probably 6000 overhealth, and that takes 2 games at least. If you are not planning on retroactively taking our hours and stats from OW1 and OW2, then the least you can do is make sure the balance between the different heroes is as close and fair as possible.

Meh… if you want to get people excited trash this nonsense and the Battle Pass and bring back grindable Loot Boxes.

Also why do already played hours not count? That’s just silly.

The game needs progression system but this one is wrong on so many levels.

-Why overcomplicate things when stats already exist?
-Old players starting from 0 kills the whole point of it
-Meaningless rewards that nobody is going to bother grinding for

Clearly nobody who made this has played the game.

LOL WHAT PROGRESSION? JAJAJAJJAJA you see a lot of bars go up after a match but for what? you get nothing leveling up, ok you get mmm banners, profile icons, wow such progression

if you want real hero progression go play paladins, if you level up your character you get exclusive skins for free, a reward for being loyal

I’m all for more progression, but this system is kinda confusing, and it annoyingly doesn’t account for the hundreds of hours old players put into the game. Your graphic in the blog shows someone at level 400+ on various heroes, which is insane because it takes forever to level your heroes.

Also, before now many people were asking for the post-match cards/voting screen to come back (MVP, Assists, Kill Streak, etc.) , to which devs like Jared said such features would disrupt the post-match ā€œcadenceā€. Now you add this new, unpolished, clunky post-match screen which doesn’t look that great (why are the hero medals pixely JPGs?) and really only does half of what the old post-match screen did. I don’t get it.

Retroactive!!!

I’m curious how many heroes I would already have finished :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Add in our existing hours. Either from OW1 or from the start of OW2. Ridiculous to have all that time count for nothing.

And furthermore ENOUGH WITH THE DAMN CREDITS. I don’t need anymore credits. Stop giving me that crap. Let me convert my existing credits into coins or let me buy coin purchases with credits. New players ARE NOT the only people playing this game, YOUR veteran players are too.

Incredibly lazy. Different character silhouettes plastered on exact same backgrounds doesnt really exude uniqueness. And the titles are very low effort. Overall meh.

I appreciate adding a player progression system, but this one kinda misses the mark unfortunately. Completely disregarding the thousand hours I’ve already put into the game doesn’t inspire me to put a thousand more in.

It’s what they’ve been working soooo hard one when they abandoned OW1 for 3 years cut then some slack pretty please

You have now reused the same player portraits 3 times as ā€œrewardsā€. STOP.

Acknowledge and reward people who have been playing the game for a long time as well instead of giving them nothing.

This.

Please bring back account level progression. Thanks.

I have to disagree, unless you mean understanding what the icons mean at a glance, which I don’t think is that hard, I thought it was overall pretty straight forward and simple to read.

To get there we can click progression on the main menu enter the menu. Alternatively, you can go career profile and click the progression tab.

Then
Showcase - shows your top 5 characters by level.
Heroes - goes in a list by highest level & then alphabetical order.
Role - shows unified role stats.
Game mode - shows your time and achievements in each game mode.

Each icons have names to it and shows a level, which is achieved by our actions in games. For instance, Damage Icon might say 0/10000. After you deal 10k damage, you gain that level and it increases. That’s it. It took like a minute to go through it to figure it out for me.

Not sure why we’re pretending it’s confusing without even trying to look at it. Though what I can criticize of the whole thing is that it doesn’t show off the icons enough for players who care about that, the end game screen doesn’t let me ESC out, earning weeklies might get harder, and the end game UI could be unified to be cleaner, simpler, shorter. But I think those can be fixed with QOL updates over time. Aside that, it is a bummer to miss old stats but it’s not that much of a big deal honestly.

Better late than never imo; I wouldn’t want them not to add things because they should have ages ago.

more potential animations I have to skip to either get to the next game or finally close it?

IMHO, our past levels and time spent playing characters not counting in the new progression system is a huge mistake.

Why not reward your long time players? You aren’t charging money (yet) for anything in the progression system, so you lose nothing by having players ā€œoldā€ stats count into the new system. It would actually be cool to see how far our old stats advance in the new system.

I guess it’s just too much for the Devs to say ā€œthanksā€ in any way shape or form to the players that have stuck by their game through thick and thin. Such is life.
