Shotguns are trash in overwatch

I would have appreciated the sarcasm, normally people get pretty mad when you give them advice.
To tell you the truth, I was under the impression guns in Overwatch fired in fixed patterns. The animation is just a visual representation of the damage you’re dealing.
It would be a lot more complicated for a system to track each pellet individually upon collision.

Even then, if the entire spread is on the target RNG plays 0 role with a 100% hit.
