Playoff Implications for this Match

  • Both teams have clinched Stage 2 Playoffs. San Francisco Shock can win this match with any result to clinch the #1 seed overall.
  • If Shanghai loses, they will likely face off against San Francisco Shock again enterting the Stage 2 Playoffs.

Finally we get into the matches that matter today

I actually can’t believe it. My boys (and m’lady) are on the verge of actually entering a OWL playoff for the first time ever

Ready to see the Shock finally get a map taken from them?

I know I sure am.

Correction: The Shanghai Dragons are likely to face off against the Shock again irrespective of the match result…because if Shock wins, they clinch first spot and Shanghai finishes in 8th, while if Shanghai wins they could climb up to 6th, and because Atlantic and Pacific Division champions automatically receive 1 and 2 seeds (depending on record), the Shock will fall to third and likely be on a collision course with Shanghai in 6th.

i love it, both teams were laughed at in previous season… now look at them, they are much, much better!

Dragons have to break this streak of Shock’s.

11 matches ago, Shanghai were still winless. If they win today, they draw level with Florida in franchise history, at 8 wins.

I would love to see Dragons win but I don’t think they can against Shock. I do think they can at least take a map though. I’m guessing 3-1 Shock.

Out of curiosity, which game mode do you think Shanghai will be able to pull off against the Shock?

Does it not depend on the score in the next match? Spark vs Dynasty?

Shanghai have a terrible matchup after this one… If they beat SFS, Vancouver Titans overtake #1, which means SFS will face #6 which gonna be the Shanghai Dragons.

If Shanghai loses, they drop down to #8 (regardless of HZS/VaN game) and SFS take seed #1, which mean the dragons play SFS again.

The only way for Shanghai not face Shock again is winning today by 3-2 and then lose against Dallas Fuel in the tiebreaker.

Calling it right now…27-1-0

My bet would be on Paris. It favours the comps Shanghai run more, and SF nearly lost a map on it a couple of weeks ago

That Pharah is so cleeeaaaan.

Credit where credit is due. Shanghai learned what Houston didn’t. Don’t play GOATS against a team that you know is better than you at GOATS.

I hate this Shock orange.

Shanghai almost play DPS more than Chengdu at this point tbh

See Kawagima’s comment below:

Basically, the only way the Dragons can not face the Shock will be to win 3-2…because Dallas has already beaten the Dragons twice (back in Stage 1), that means the Fuel will get the 6 seed and Shanghai would get the 7 seed…however, that also means the Dragons will have to face the Spitfire…

Basically, the Dragons will be facing the Shock again unless this match goes to a 5th map tiebreaker and the Dragons win that one…

This post aged well.
