What I was thinking is IV frames until the player regains control, maybe he gets some kind of demonic protector? Lol.
But yeah, I totally agree, invincibility frames in a game like Overwatch could be incredibly frustrating and almost definitely wouldn’t work at all, just brainstorming really.
Your point about his ult is exactly my worry too, that why I’d like Moira’s fade on Reaper, but that wouldn’t work, cause it’d be way too good for flanks.
agreed. the most annoying thing about mass rez mercy to me was i had to stand there and make sure i timed my attacks, otherwise they’d be completely useless xD
OMG YES! Always flippin happens “Oh you want to get in that little window at the point in Lijiang Tower? LOL I’LL PUT YOU IN FRONT OF THIS ROCK INSTEAD HAHAHA”
Honest to god, that ability is a mess. Sym Tele uses the same tech so trying to place a Tele is just like trying to Teleport with Reaper.
1st of all, the ability needs to be fixed technically so that it is no longer temperamental and it is a consistent ability.
Then the ability could use some tweaks/buffs to make it better. Maybe make it so that it has a longer range or faster animation or make it as soon as its activated, Reaper becomes invulnerable in the starting location of the ability… etc.
There is a lot of room to improve this ability and the same needs to be done for Syms Tele. As soon as you place it, it should 100% break any fence or object in the way.
I think that Shadow Step was never meant to be a combat related tool. Its use is to make Reaper able to bypass certain choke points and allow him to later sneak up to enemies (high volume voice and steps don’t help but it can be tweaked easily).
The skill surely didn’t age well to begin with and it had a Demi-Meme history since old patches almost always had a line saying: “fixed a bug that allowed Reaper to reach unintended locations”.
That said, Shadow Step isn’t easy to use even with all this taken into account. If some1 manages to find your arrival spot soon enough they can kill you (I had so many free kills with Hanzo waiting for Reaper to TP).
In conclusion, I think Shadow Step needs some tweaks but it should stay an out-of-combat tool. Reaper being forced to stay away from action in order to set up a good flank is part of his character and fantasy other than his original gameplay design.
