Server connection lost

Server connection lost, wasted 20 mins, lost game, lost time, did not get exp and got suspended for quitting game… My internet did not screwed up becouse i had Twtitch stream on 2nd monitor and it worked perfectly.

Time for going back to game in lots of cases is to short. I tryed to rejoin 3 times and could not do that.

Rejoining a game is only possible during certain phases of the game. If you leave a game either during the pre-game or during the first minute of the game, the game will automatically cancel (remember the 10 second rule does not apply to the leaver, but as a warning to other players that the match will cancel). You can rejoin the match during the initial hero selection screen if you are lucky enough to quickly reconnect though.

Otherwise, you can only rejoin any-time after one-minute of match time has passed up until the match completes. However you only have two minutes to do so without penalty. If you rejoin a match after two-minutes, you will still automatically be marked with a loss an be penalized with a -50 SR cut and a ten-minute suspension. This rule ensures that no one can abusive the leaver system by attempting to return to a match after deliberately leaving in order to avoid such penalties. Furthermore leaving three or more times in a single match will result in an automatic penalty. If you fail to return to a match by the time it ends normally (regardless of match result) you will be penalized.

Connecting to one web service does not take the same connection route as another. As such is more likely your specific connection to the game server had a problem. The best way to narrow down and troubleshoot this is by doing a WinMTR connection test.

WinMTR instructions:

  1. Download WinMTR from http://winmtr.net/download-winmtr/ (Console players need a Windows Desktop Computer connected to the same network as their console to do this.)
  2. Unzip the WinMTR.zip file to the Desktop.
  3. Open the WinMTR folder and select the 32 or 64 bit version. Choose whichever one corresponds to your version of Windows.
  4. Run the WinMTR.exe
  5. Type the IP address you want to trace in the “Host” field. To get the correct IP you will actually need to open up the game and go Practice Vs AI or Quick Play and if you are on PC hit Ctrl+Shift+N and it will bring up the ingame network diagnostic graph, or go to Video > Options > Display Network Performance Graph if you are on any platform including Console. In the top left corner is the IP address you want to run WinMTR to.
    Network Graph
note When looking at the IP it will show up ingame as something like 12.34.56.78:12345. You will want to leave the last 5 digits and the colon at the end off and the IP you want to use is just the 12.34.56.78
  6. Once you notice the connection issue while playing, play for about 6 more minutes, minimize the game and click on “Stop”.
  7. Click on “Copy text to clipboard”, then return to this forum thread.
  8. Type two sets of four squiggly lines and then paste the contents of the WinMTR test between: ~~~~ Paste WinMTR Test Results Here ~~~~

If in the event you can’t even connect to Overwatch and get into any game mode at all, please use one of the following IP addresses based on your geographical region:

  • US West - 24.105.30.129
  • US Central - 24.105.62.129
  • Brazil - 54.207.107.12
  • Europe - 185.60.114.159

  • Korea - 211.234.110.1
  • Taiwan - 203.66.81.98

I’ve had this continuing problem ONLY in competitive matches, almost every game. I’ve decided that I’m going to quit the game, becasue Blizzard has clearly made it a point to not improve their servers. 12 people are on the effin server, fortnite runs 100 people on a server and doesn’t boot me every game (AND ADDITIONALY PENALIZE AND SUSPEND ME) when I’ve NEVER left a game intentionally. It’s absolute BS that I have very good network statistics as well as 5G quantum internet, and I can’t play the effin game becasue Blizzard can’t fix their servers. I’ve spent 100s if dollars on blizzard games, and 100s of hours playing and will never buy one again until you fix the issues with this game. 0% packet loss, 65 latency, and 13 MB upload and I can’t play a effin game without disconnecting from your servers.

Competitive Mode has no backfill protocol. This means it is more evident to encounter disconnection problems, especially when queuing for Competitive Matches.

It really sounds like your end is fine, but something between you and the game server is malfunctioning. Which is why I recommend that you also follow the steps above if you are serious about fixing your specific issue.
