Serious Mercy change - how to balance Res/Valk (edited)

it would DEFINITELY make her more interesting to play and it would solve the issue of ‘rez’ being a normal ability.

I agree. It would also finally give some good counter play to Mercy Res because you know when Mercy pops Vak, 99% chance there is going to be a Res included.

Nah… I’d rather they revert Mercy. If it wasn’t broke, don’t fix it. They just needed to give her LOS tweaks and a cast time.

Valk on E, or some cleanse ability in it’s place and boom - problem solved. They should definitely go back to square one on her.

but they said that’s never happening. So… move on. This idea what op has wrote is brilliant.

Quote where they said “A revert is never happening”. You will find no such quote.

#RevertMercy becauseeee… They also said they’re not removing rez. So… move on from trying to remove it. :man_shrugging:

Don’t get me wrong, the idea is nice and all, but as I told you pumping more healing into Mercy won’t solve anything. We all know how Valk turned out… I have discussed this with a few people over discord and we have come to the conclusion that res is too op for a standart ability unless it has countless limitations.

I suggest we have res on an ultimate ability. Single target, instant, doesn’t grant Mercy invulnerability. She can have stacks and between every res there is a 1 sec CD she needs to let go. Kinda like symm’s old tp, just with 1 sec cd between every player tped (in this case resed).

As for an E ability I would love seeing this in the game :

  • Mercy launches a Pacify debuff as a hitscan attack, reducing the damage of one enemy if it hits.
    • Cast time: 0.5 seconds cast, 0.25 seconds followup
    • Duration: 4 seconds
    • Cooldown: 10 seconds
    • Pacify debuff: Reduces the damage output of one enemy by 33%
    • Large hitbox

Actually, they did say this.

And I didn’t remove Res.

The thing is you can only Res during Valk now.

The thing here is that you are limiting Res to only be used during Valk. However, saving someone from dying is always better using a Res anyway. You also have to keep in mind that with this build, Mercy totally loses AoE healing because healing beam does NOT split anymore.

Mercy should always be about healing. A healing amp to 75HPS for 5 seconds every 20 seconds to potentially save someone from being killed is really strong and fits very well into Mercys kit and lore while keeping Res as an ultimate ability.

I like your idea but I dont think we should just throw new abilities on a hero just to see if it may or may not work out.

The ability you suggested I would rather see that used on a new support hero because we need new supports. We can’t just keep giving Mercy all these new abilities when in reality they should be used on new supports.

Once again, Where did they said “A revert is never happening.” Those words were never spoken by them - ever. What you posted and what was claimed them “saying” are two totally different implications.

Saying “We have no plans to revert Mercy” = / = “A revert is never happening”… Both statements have completely different implications. We shouldn’t confuse people and act like they mean the same thing, because they do not.

So youre telling me, even after what he said, you still need him to say the words “Mass Res is NOT coming back and a revert is NOT happening”?

I feel the healing nerf was justified. she still has the most consistent heals but through the duration of a match she’s going to heal about 1k less than Moira.

except that’s never going to happen. a revert is one of the most controversial ideas on the forums, every revert mercy post goes back and forth with neither side being able to convince one another. If we could all get behind 1 idea, they would take notice and follow through.

I agree and I really think the suggestion I pitched is a really nice half way point between both sides of the discussion.

I just wish we could all agree on this and pitch it to the dev team

Yes… That’s how confirmation works. “What he said” was not confirmation for “mass res is not coming back”. Those are words you are putting in their mouth.

  1. They’ve reverted Mercy’s voiceline.
  2. They’ve reverted Mercy’s healing output.
  3. Never say never.

#revertmercy

why buff her gun when its already the easiest weapon to use in the entire game.

Valk should upgrade both the staff and the gun and the projectile speed just makes its slightly more reliable.

I think after 11 nerfs, it would be nice to get a buff somewhere else

I like your idea, but I’m not sure if Valk would be weak or op compared to Ana or Moira.

I’ve made a similar post last week, if you want to take a look.

saying i’d like to put the notion that mercy is going to be reverted to rest means:

  1. To bury someone who has died. Paul will be laid to rest on Saturday, and I plan to go to the funeral service.
  2. By extension, to stop or finish discussing, thinking about, or focusing on something.

which is directly translated ‘we are not reverting mercy so stop talking about it’. If you can’t use logic it’s not our problem.

Once again.

  1. The words “A revert is never happening” was never used in the description. It is your own fault for assuming the statement was permanent, when he never said it was.

  2. Saying “We have no plans to revert Mercy” = / = “A revert is never happening”… Both statements have completely different implications. We shouldn’t confuse people and act like they mean the same thing, because they do not.

  3. Two reverts to Mercy has already happened since the statement.

The “logic” is that you both assumed that he said “We will never revert mercy”, when he never said as such. It’s one thing to be bias, it’s another to put words in Jeff’s mouth that never existed, and parrot that lie as if it is fact.

Jeff wanted the discussion about reverts to end. That’s it. He never said anything about them “never reverting mercy”, and thinking anything other than that is subjectively false until proven true. 2 reverts already to the hero is proof that the statement “They will never revert Mercy” is dead.

Finally someone that is suggesting good changes to mercy and not a stupid and unfun revert

Okay… so clearly you just need J.Kap to come right out and say it for those of you that can’t figure out what he said.

That’s how confirmation works, kid. Sorry that there’s some people who actually look for evidence and proof rather than believe in rumors and biased opinions, claiming that Jeff said things that don’t exist.
